Do you have any idea how hard it is to hold a salute for three consecutive hours?
Look at the area - This Marine was in full dress uniform.
Think about the heat - Navy Blue jacket - 3 hours - sunlight.

Speaks volumes about dedication to an American Tradition!     I'm touched and very impressed!

3000 vets on motorcycles from across the USA paraded in D.C. the Sunday before Memorial Day, while a solitary, saluting Marine greeted them out on Constitution Avenue... the Marine stood at salute for 3 straight hours, while the parade of roaring bikes kept on coming.... it is held in remembrance of those who've fallen in the military.... the event (or the group) is called Rolling Thunder... George Bush used to meet these bikers before they paraded... the camera is on the Marine a lot... watch his struggles with his emotions, and his struggles with holding that salute... the way he salutes is very touching... his head lowered, his eyes down, in reverence for the fallen...  watch what he says when he finally breaks, but keeps right on holding that salute...

cooldude That was dedication  police Sorry I missed that marine

A group of us Leathernecks from Ohio did not make the parade that day, we had a minor fender bender on the way downtown DC Embarrassed We where at the end of a larger group of 100 or so veterans on bikes, switching over 3 lanes for an exit, when all of sudden all we saw was a sea of brake lights  Shocked after we where able to get in front of this truck  uglystupid2

Since we where at the tail of this group - we where witnessing the according effect - we where speeding up to catch the end of the group crossing 3 lanes of highway - needless to say not everyone got slowed down in time and hit the tail end of our leader, knocking him to the road  ??? Undecided He did not get up, and his bike fortunetly went into the grass and not into the other bikes  Lips Sealed

The Leathernecks in that group went into action and secured the site, by this time our leatherneck was talking and wanted to be checked out by the squad - they showed up quickly and wisked him away, fortunetly they released him a couple hours latter, no broken bones, some road rash and bruises  cooldude

We had his bike trailered back to our camp site - minor damage to the saddle bags and exhaust tail pipe - it was ridabale.  Then we herd that the State Police would not release the other bike due to damage  ??? Discovered the point of impact was the shifting linkage, broke and bent  tickedoff  We made some quick field repairs and rode that bike back to the camp site and made some more secure repairs. This bike was ridable now Roll Eyes and she was not injured in the fender bender. Wink

Needless to say the band of leathernecks from Ohio did not make the ride down town DC to the parade that day, we took care of our brothers and sisters - they where both able to ride their bikes back to Ohio the next day  coolsmiley

DC traffic is the pits  crazy2

My daughter is a marine... she brings honor to our family, just as the sargent in the video brings honor to our country.
