Psalm 14 1THE [empty-headed] fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable deeds; there is none that does good or right.
2The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men to see if there were any who understood, dealt wisely, and sought after God, inquiring for and of Him and requiring Him [of vital necessity].
3They are all gone aside, they have all together become filthy; there is none that does good or right, no, not one.
4Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread and who do not call on the Lord?

Jos 24:15 "If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

we are all unworthy!Romans 3 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

That is true.......no one is righteous enough to get to heaven on their own.....without Christ we are all most miserable and condemed.
If there is no God (JESUS) than there is no heaven to be gained nor hell to be avoided.
If there is a God of the Bible (JESUS) than he is the way the truth and the life.....noone gets to the Father but by him
So, for those that havent accepted Jesus......its your choice......doesnt make you a worse or a better person by choosing one way or the other, but choose God and follow Him and live. Choose NO GOD and take yer chances......Do you feel lucky?

1Jn 5:11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 1Jn 5:12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. 1Jn 5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
2Co 3:13 and are not like Moses, who used to put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel would not look intently at the end of what was fading away. 2Co 3:14 But their minds were hardened; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed in Christ. 2Co 3:15 But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart; 2Co 3:16 but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 2Co 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 2Co 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
2Co 4:3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 2Co 4:4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 2Co 4:5 For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus' sake. 2Co 4:6 For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. 2Co 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; 2Co 4:8 we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; 2Co 4:9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 2Co 4:10 always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.

The idea that you are hedging your bets by believing in Jesus is a logical fallacy. It assumes that the question has a true/false answer. What do you do if the question is multiple choice? What if you choose answer B, and the answer is D?

The idea that you are hedging your bets by believing in Jesus is a logical fallacy. It assumes that the question has a true/false answer. What do you do if the question is multiple choice? What if you choose answer B, and the answer is D? Hmmm....talk about "logical fallacy." According to the Bible, there is no so-called multiple choice, therefore, no C or D possibility. You either choose Him...or you don't. As the old saying goes; "if you choose God and there is no God, you've lost nothing. However, if you chose not to follow Him and there is a God, at the end you've lost everything." I rather like the first choice. My dad and mom were devout people, salt of the earth type, yet not the sort to force their chosen lifestyle on anyone. If you were to ask them a question of spiritual content, it would be answered...nothing more. They chose to follow, and having observed them and their activities while I've been here, following their chosen path never shortchanged them as far as life's experiences. They led a full, productive, and very active life. Mom died of a stroke at 71 so I've already outlived her. Dad finally left us at 93 so I have a ways to go. Once they retired from teaching, for about eight months out of the year I never knew where they were, that's a full life. Following their God was never a burden, and I can never measure up to my folks devotion so I quit trying.

Luk 4:32 and they were amazed at His teaching, for His message was with authority. Luk 4:33 In the synagogue there was a man possessed by the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, Luk 4:34 "Let us alone! What business do we have with each other, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are--the Holy One of God!" Luk 4:35 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet and come out of him!" And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst of the people, he came out of him without doing him any harm. Luk 4:36 And amazement came upon them all, and they began talking with one another saying, "What is this message? For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits and they come out." Luk 4:37 And the report about Him was spreading into every locality in the surrounding district. Luk 4:38 Then He got up and left the synagogue, and entered Simon's home. Now Simon's mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Him to help her. Luk 4:39 And standing over her, He rebuked the fever, and it left her; and she immediately got up and waited on them. Luk 4:40 While the sun was setting, all those who had any who were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and laying His hands on each one of them, He was healing them. Luk 4:41 Demons also were coming out of many, shouting, "You are the Son of God!" But rebuking them, He would not allow them to speak, because they knew Him to be the Christ.
1Co 2:1 And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. 1Co 2:2 For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. 1Co 2:3 I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling, 1Co 2:4 and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 1Co 2:5 so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God. 1Co 2:6 Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away; 1Co 2:7 but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory; 1Co 2:8 the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory; 1Co 2:9 but just as it is written, "THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM."
Mat 26:28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.

I want to know what happens to the soul of a child that dies.
I know all the answers from it goes to heaven because it was an innocent, to it spends eternity in limbo (Catholic doctrine, although I think they have revised it in recent decades)
What's YOUR take on this tricky question?

EXACTLY.......It is that simple. God is God or hes not (to each of us personally) If he is God to you youre half way there. The demons believe He is God. the other half of the journey is making him your Lord, following him, living by his commandments which by the new covenant are simply: Love God with everything you have Love others (including your enemies) like you love yourself There is only YES or NO............lots of folks cant deal with such a simple truth, and make it harder, many choices confuse the issue.........everyone dies, then there is the judgement.......I am not a believer to hedge a bet........a bet assumes there are odds........there are no "odds" with God, He either knows you and will be glad to see you at the judgement. OR He doesnt and he will say depart I never knew you. Those are words no one will want to hear

I believe the answer to this lies in the story of Adam and Eve. They became condemed when they ate from the tree of the KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL. I personally believe a child that cannot yet comprehend the precepts of GOD, and his commandments, then they go to Heaven if they die. I do not believe this is age related....its intellectually related (IMHO) I believe we all are guilty, meaning we dont actually have to SIN BIG to go to hell, all we have to do is be able to comprehend right from wrong, know that we need God and refuse........if a person cannot do that I believe God has a different way to deal with such an one. Thats what I believe

Way back when - I used to work for the railways in Canada. It was a strongly unionized group.
But they had 3 actions that could lead to immediate dismal without appeal.
1. Any deliberate action that caused injury to anyone 2. Discussing politics 3. Discussing religion.
After reading many of the posts on this and other boards - I still think those were good guidelines
I support everyone's right to hold their own religious and/or political beliefs - as long as they can in turn support others rights to their own religious and/or political beliefs.

If a dislexic athiest gets insomnia, would they stay up all night wondering if there is such thing as a dog? Actually, no...an atheist wouldn't wonder about god at all. Perhaps an agnostic. Atheism, in a broad sense, is the rejection of belief in the existence of deities. In a narrower sense, atheism is specifically the position that there are no deities. Most inclusively, atheism is simply the absence of belief that any deities exist. Atheism is contrasted with theism, which in its most general form is the belief that at least one deity exists. Agnosticism is the view that the truth value of certain claims—especially claims about the existence or non-existence of any deity, but also other religious and metaphysical claims—is unknown or unknowable. Agnosticism can be defined in various ways, and is sometimes used to indicate doubt or a skeptical approach to questions. In some senses, agnosticism is a stance about the similarities or differences between belief and knowledge, rather than about any specific claim or belief.

Seems were moving that way here in America too. I hope Christians stand up against this new government that seems bent on taking freedom away bit by bit. For too long the words seperation of church and state have been over used and misused. I for one would never stop praising God or answereing when someone asks about salvation......I respect others beliefs...that is their right to believe anything they want. I just dont (and am not supposed to) have to agree with them that its just another "road to God" All religions are flawed...let EVERY man be a liar, only God is true. Christianity is not a religion its simply saying Yes to follow God. There are Christians in every Religion and there are those that will not make it into heaven in every religion too. Do you know HIM, does HE know you.....thats the bottom line

You could argue RELIGION for days and months and years and get nowhere. It all boils down to "EITHER YOU BELIEVE IN THE BIBLE OR YOU DON'T".....if you don't believe that Jesus Christ is the Risen Savior then you are headed to hell my friend. buddas allas and all the like are FALSE GODS. if you believe in them you are wasting your time. that's all I got to say about the subject.

Mark 10:13-14 13 Some people were bringing little children to Him so He might touch them, but His disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw it, He was indignant and said to them, "Let the little children come to Me. Don't stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these..." -Mike

God wasnt "made" God just IS.....by our logic we cannot comprehend it but even before time began God simply says "I AM" thats who he is. Strong Eagle....you will need to ask God personally when you see him if you need more than that

So... if when a child dies... he automatically goes to heaven, would it not be in THEIR best interest to send them there, before they have the chance to screw it up?
I am NOT serious about that arguement, it's ONLY a academic arguement. But how do you argue against that position?

Because true joy in life is when you live for Him, serve your brothers and sisters and are blessed by God. How sad to give up and say we cannot bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord any longer.

Well.......... you see there is this book that can answer all your questions. Many people read this book to reinforce "their" position on things. People will take the exact same passage and argue two different points of view. The "secret", if you want to call it that, is you must read it with an open heart and an open mind. Don't be surprised if it doesn't turn your world upside down the first time you pick it up, I still have my demons I struggle with every day. The book is not a "religious" book. Religion was created by man, that's why there are so many. The book acknowledges that not everyone will accept what it has to offer but it's greatest gift is that as long as we draw breath the offer is open to everyone who believes. I for one believe.

Besides, it's SO much more fun, for the mystical, mythical, invisible super-being to allow millions of children to die of hunger...then have man justify that in ANY way...
Oh, right, I forgot "merciful"...
Believe in my peaceful, wonderful god...or I'll KILL YOU!!
I put god right up there with the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy, and the devil right there with the Boogey-man, and dragons. All are stories to either pacify or terrify children.
Praise all, at the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster...

I guess I was wrong in assuming anyone that would clic on a thread named "GOD" wouldnt be offended to read about "GOD" and peoples opinions abot God and religion I am impressed at how many opinions have been thoughtfully expressed...no name calling.....no one storming out. Yet people are offended because this is a motorcycle board? Heres a hint. If you dont want to read a post about God, then dont clic on a post titled "GOD" pretty simple

I am interested. I am curious. I am just not convinced.
The REQUIREMENT of accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior seems a little bit petty to me. No offense intended to ANYONE about that. Condemning a soul to hell, because of that just seems wrong to me.
What about the POV that the Jews are God's chosen poeple? Where are THEY going? Are they God's chosen people, even though they got it wrong 2000 years ago?
I AM humble enough to know, that I do NOT KNOW.
The world is FULL of religions, and people who are every bit as sure as ya'll are that THEY are right.
I don't know. And I am willing to admit to myself that I don't know.
But what I DO know is, there are Muslims in the world who are SURE enough that THEY are right, that they are killing themselves, trying to take a few of us with them. I am pretty sure that AIN'T right!!

Jabba...If you want to email me I will be glad to discuss my experience with you from coming out of the Catholic Church disillusioned and anti religion to feeling the pull of God wanting me to make an adult decision. I Chose Christ and have not been the same since. As many on here can attest, Im far from perfect, I just have the peace of mind to know with full assurance that I am forgiven
Jews were called the chosen people God came to them first and they did not recieve him as Lord.......So Jesus took his message to the gentiles (non Jews) and then he had to teach the Jews that since the gentiles were grafted into the family now, theres no difference....only those that believe and those that have refused.......the ones that believe (accept Jesus' sacrifice on the cross as the only offering for sin) they are now the TRUE JEW.....this is not my opinion, this is scripture.

I want to know what happens to the soul of a child that dies.
I know all the answers from it goes to heaven because it was an innocent, to it spends eternity in limbo (Catholic doctrine, although I think they have revised it in recent decades)
What's YOUR take on this tricky question?
Jabba
If a child dies before reaching the age of accountablity (that is where they can make a decision on thier faith in God, and thats different for every person only God knows when that is) they will go to heaven Also at the rally there will be a CMA booth, please feel free to bring your questions, many will try to help you figure them out. Of course you will se we arent perfect but human like the rest.

I dont know which god you are refering to but God is and always was
Exo 3:13 Then Moses said to God, "Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you.' Now they may say to me, 'What is His name?' What shall I say to them?" Exo 3:14 God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM"; and He said, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'" Exo 3:15 God, furthermore, said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations.
Rom 9:18 So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires. Rom 9:19 You will say to me then, "Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will?" Rom 9:20 On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder, "Why did you make me like this," will it? Rom 9:21 Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use? Rom 9:22 What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction? Rom 9:23 And He did so to make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory, Rom 9:24 even us, whom He also called, not from among Jews only, but also from among Gentiles.

That's the first step to learning. The answers are all in the Bible (God's Word) but YOU have to find it for YOU. It may be in a different place for you than it was for me, but you'll not find it til you look. I've said before it's not our job, as Christians, to convince anybody of anything. Our 'job' is to help spread the Word. After someone hears, it's up to them whether or not to believe. The biggest problem with that is that so many false prophets twist the Word to where it will benefit them in some way, usually financially. That's why it's so important to know it for yourself. And we won't kill you no matter which way you decide.

and the devil right there with the Boogey-man, and dragons. I'd agree with that except for dragons, don't bring dragons into this, they're real!!! Praise all, at the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster... Ah, I see a fellow brother who has been touched by His noodly appendage! Really, it comes down to this. If you're happy with your religion/belief/knowledge/faith/imaginary friend/whatever you want to call it, PLEASE be happy with it, but don't try to cram it down everyone else's throat... No one is going to change anyone else's mind on an internet message forum. Period. Not gonna happen, all that will be accomplished is that people who would otherwise consider each other friends, brothers even, will begin to mistrust, sling mud, and eventually, hate each other...

Whatever it is, it's better in the wind.
