http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/Article/537967/201006211813/Is-US-Now-On-Slippery-Slope-To-Tyranny-.aspx

The man appointed by President Obama to dispense BP's money as the administration sees fit, to whomever it sees fit, is only the latest in a long line of presidentially appointed "czars" controlling different parts of the economy, without even having to be confirmed by the Senate, as Cabinet members are.

Those who cannot see beyond the immediate events to the issues of arbitrary power — vs. the rule of law and the preservation of freedom — are the "useful idiots" of our time.

I do agree with your article but this is no longer about due process or any other form of civilized government. Do you think BP just gave up that money when the president came calling and did not exercise all their options? I dont think so, I also dont believe that BP was intimidated by the senate there are alot of companies that had the {whatever} to stand against the government and put this thing back in court. As usual there had to be a back room deal of some sort in order for BP to turn over this kind of money. Plus as usual we will not be let in to the distribution of the monies that the government collected in fact does this mean you have to sue the government to collect damages? Plus at 2 billion if they do indeed come up with the money which they in reality may never the interest over one year would be immense. Like I said though I doubt that this is going to happen just like the Obama administration has done in the past they put out a headline that is all smoke and mirrors just to get the publicity off it.

Hello?  Is anybody home here?

BP, through its absolutely atrocious safety policies, has managed to pollute a huge section of the Gulf of Mexico, throwing tens of thousands of people out of work, and creating an environmental disaster on a scale that has not been seen before.

Congress, through ill advised legislation capped liability at $75 million, a pittance, compared to what it is actually going to cost to clean this up.

Obama, to his credit, has ensured that BP will have at least $20 billion to clean this mess up... and it will probably take every penny of this, and more, to do it.

And what do we get?  A doofus

Edit  -  The post stops where the name calling starts.

Hello?  Is anybody home here?

And what do we get?  A doofus like CA who is complaining that someone is actually ADMINISTERING the clean up fund.  This is a doofus who would be bitching if someone was not in control, and bitches if someone is in control... with the well worn out 'czar' bullsh*t as well as a long litany of other dumbass complaints.

.......and then there's SFB Trolls like SE that come along specifically to disagree merely for some sick sense of gratification.

Na·zi (näts, nt-)
n. pl. Na·zis
1. A member of the National Socialist German Workers' Party, founded in Germany in 1919 and brought to power in 1933 under Adolf Hitler.
2. often nazi An adherent or advocate of policies characteristic of Nazism; a fascist.
adj.
Of, relating to, controlled by, or typical of the National Socialist German Workers' Party

Law

The law is not always just and it surely does not always serve the interests of the poor, but it does provide an important tool that can be used in the struggle against the heartless and corrupt political elites and their cronies. The law can also be used to help mobilise people and to help them to resist the actions of officials and politicians who have one eye on a Porsche and another on a bottle of Johnny Walker Black Label.

Strong Eagle the LAW is the mechanism by which we should be making BP to live up to it's

obligations.

Not a obviuos shake down by Shaky Joe Biden, who told them if you don't give it to us we will take it.

Coercion of funds through a obvious shakedown.

What if you or I are next.

Arbitrary Government is not Government at all.

It is Chaos.

Nice posts, people, and none of them have addressed that actual issue... the liability of BP and how to ensure that they don't escape through legal escapades.

Troll?  I laugh at your inability to discern the difference.

Good example why Obama keeps whining to small business to create jobs.

They won't because of the Goverment it is not stable.

Sitting on all investment until the Share the Wealth Crowd is gone.

They may even move thier assetts out of the country to avoid the taking of said investments

unlawfully.

Guns may be better investment at this time in history and Obama has been unwittingly the

major force for arming the American People than any other mechanism in the history

of the United States.

No recovery with jobs for this old Boy in the WHITE HOUSE>

Not in this lifetime, G20 spanked his little be-hind for all his crazy spending  that they are unwilling to continue doing.

I will be surprised to see that BP ever gives the money to the fund. HOW Quickly we forget and no one hears about the oil spill in Alaska or that it happened years ago. Or that

We all like to think things have never happened before but look at this and remember. In light of this there should be criminal charges brought against BP not just financial. But like all things in our goverment if you are this big and have this many people with there hands out nothing will happen and that goes for the fund too. BP has only paid out a small percentage of money. I really dont think its anything new with the government either they have been heading in the same direction.

Jefferson said that when the people fear the government, there is tyranny.  I don't see that this slippery slope is anything new.

He just learned a new word and wanted to share, doofus has 6 letters in it and 2 syllables PLUS he used it in a sentence !  I am impressed with your new language skill S.E. ,But dont you know name calling is not nice? You can work on learning to play well with others on the playground or you can spend recess in the time out corner. Now stop crying...You will learn how to make friends some day. 5th grade will be much easier if you just try a little harder,it's OK to be different..you are just "SPECIAL" Sunshine.

Remember the recent Past.

B P is simply TOO BIG TO FAIL.

We will in fact before it's over,,,,,,,,, we will be bailing them out , because the Pay CZAR.

Said don't Sue them they might fail.

A little bit of evidence to lay my case on for a Bail Out Later.

Watch and see.

That was probably brought up in the meeting with Biden and Barack Hussien Obama.and B P.
Origianal Name was Barry by the way. He changed it.

Not BP,,,,,,,,, but Barack used to be called by Barry.

Also this just in from Credible sources.

Obama's Grand Father was arrested in the Country he lived in , presumably Kenya.

He was tortured under the British Occupation of his Grand Father' Country.

Turned loose 6 months later, and his Grandma told him the story.

His Grand Fathers 3rd Wife that is.

That may be why he sent the Bust of Winston Churchhill back to Britain, they treated his Papaw bad.

Starting to make sense now.

The British if my memory serves also helped Israel to become a counrty after WWII.

Boy that may be why he does not get along with Israel and  Britain.

Once again the American press let's us down , you should have known he

would not get along with one our closeest allies in all of the World.

BEFORE the election.

Keep one EYE out and that may get painful.

On how he works this debacle.

His Grand Father purportedly was dealt with , with Torture.

One of those involved two rods that put pressure on his should I say it.  Family Jewels.

Well now as fate would have it,, he is the one with the rods in hands doing the twisting on The

British Company.

This is too weird and there is no way I could make this up.

Wow how the worm does turn.

But who is next, any body else do his family harm, he is the President you know.

This man I report to you,  is not fit to be The President.

But then again the Press gave him a free pass.

Hillary would have been the better of the two.

He may be mentally deranged after being raised such as he was.

A couple hundred years ago, there were other presidents who hated the British as well.  We call them patriots and Founding Fathers.

I don’t know President Obama’s true feelings about the British, especially on things that happened before he was born, but I doubt it has much to do with the BP situation.
