Gave up trying to get the old ones to work, left one not at all, right side interrmitent. Went to Harbor Freight and picked up a new set of LED lights, ran new wiring from about halfway back to their hook up point. Perfect first time I turned on the car lights....and these suckers are BRIGHT. Have no idea what the trouble was, decided to toss the old ones and start anew. Tomorrow I get new tires and I'm ready to make like the hind legs of a dog.....Haul A$$!   Evil

Often wondered about trailer tires, why do they recommend different style of tires for trailers compared to car tires. The ones for this unit are 6 ply and they don't like you running fast with them. Anybody know why the stiffer tire for trailers? Is it because most don't have a sprung axle? My bike hauler has a torsion axle so you'd think I could use car tires as long as they are rated for the load. Sure would be less expensive for the tires.

Glad you got them going.

I think trailer tires are simply load rated.  Car tires are OK if they are rated for the load.  But, we can LOAD up a single axle trailer and exceed the tired load rating pretty easy.

JMO  which is probably worth what you paid!   coolsmiley

What size tire are you running?

If it is the big fat 8", those tires are for Golf Carts.

If it is not at least a 13" rim, stay with the 6 ply trailer tire.

John.which way ya comming up from Columbus?If it is Rt-23 to 223 to 127,and feel like taking a rest stop,I live near the corner of 223 east of Adrian........JB.

RJ, they're 155/80R13 and have worked pretty good so far. They're only 2 ply, the regular trailer tire I was told I should be running is a 175/80D13, 6 ply. And was told to keep the speed at no more than 60. With the 155's I have on there now, I've run down the interstates at 70-75 and you don't know it's back there, tows beautiful. The trailer is about 475 lbs., the bike probably close to 800, maybe a bit more, the tires are rated to handle that weight with about a 500lb. margin. Instead of a 175 trailer tire, I was thinking of a 175 car tire since I have the room under the fender. Guess I'll do some caparison of the tire specs first.

Most important....the testing, etc., my wife went through today showed up negative for cancer. Now I can breathe.

That might not be a bad idea, have to let you know. I was planning on taking I-75 to I-475, then 223 NW toward Holt. That would pass right by you looks like. I'd be ready for a gas stop by then, assuming I behave on the open road.  Evil  I usually will go about 2 or 2 1/2 hrs. before stopping, depends on my comfort level. I'll have to get a phone number from you and maybe call ahead.

Find a GOOD tire store and hae them reomend something for ya.

Ya don't have to go with what they say, just use your own judgement.

I went out an looked on my trailer and they are 175/80D13 6 ply trailer only tire.  Sheet. forgot the brand already.......

My trailer is all air suspension.

Trailer tires have a stiffer side wall. The stiffer sidewalls help prevent the trailer from swaying side to side as you travel down the road.  If it were me, I'd stick with trailer tires.   LT (light truck) tires can work too....

I was told the compound is different in trailer tires as they sit longer and the compound is more resistant to dry rot and cracking. I thought they were marked trailer use only so they do not get put on a car where they would have to steer as they were made to carry weight rolling straight and not to change the direction of the vehicle. Only tire I ever blew on my trailer was a car tire I bought when I tried to get by cheap, 13 inch on my boat, and if you ever blew one the price of repairs to the fenders etc more than make up for the additional cost of the trailer tire.  I care about my Valk and it rides on a trailer with 15 inch trailer tires. If you think you do not need the weight carrying cap of 6 plys see if they have 4 ply rated cheaper.
