Does louder pipes make you ride faster?

I cut off about 6" of muff and drilled the baffles out and added truck stacks. Tested them out in the garage Thursday night and could feel the vibration in my truck. Sweet! Kit says. So Friday night we head to a local FD to practice on her skills. Well afterwards as we leave, crowd of people around, she spurs me in the side and says gun it! They said they heard us leave town. Awesome! Then today I found myself up near redline quite a few times today. I usually don't. Must be the that the pipes are new and I want to show them off! But I rode with a group of HD's and then couldn't hear them again.....

I loved the Cobras on my Valk and I love the Rineharts on the Harley. My wife prefers the louder pipes on bikes.  My dog is now used to the Harley and is at the door as I come down the street. Yes, I love
opening  it up also. A buddy from work says my bike sounds great when riding behind me.

So I say yes.

I seem to remember someone posting on the old board that the louder the bike is, the more HP it has.
Thats like saying the louder you yell, the stronger you are.

I cut out the baffle/piggies, gutted everything. Now It's stock header and truck stacks (empty can) Makes Harleys sound like Goldwings. It does get you noticed a little more, and increases your testosterone level.

Foam ear plugs are now standard riding gear
Screw in glasspack for the wife or longer rides
I think it sounds good, but still all I could do to keep Thunderbolts tailights in sight on his Rocket!

No, I had 2 bros 6-into-6 for a number of years and I'm still a slow-poke, and the sportbike crowd all sound like sewing machines but the ride like madmen.

I finally went with the Mark-Ts with the ability to screw in the sliencers he cobbles from your old piggies. Thats the way to go, best of both worlds.

fudgie, that is like asking if a big old fat 200 rear tire, makes my a$$ look too big.

When ya 1st put good pipes on, you have a tendency to twist the throttle more, after awhile you decide, what the 7734, I don't have to prove nothing, I ride a Valkyrie and it has already been proven........

I've got 4" straight Harley pipes under the stock heat shields and tips, sounds like a "Nascar", so i'm told, i always said i like "quiet pipes" but did this for  out of curiosity and ended up liking it!!!
Especially when i ride with the Harley guys, then i display them a little,lol!
I have some 5" truck stacks i never put on ,i'm happy with the Harley pipes!
My buddy has 5" "mark t's" on his Valk and they look great, not as loud as mine but mine aren't real loud unless i Crack the throttle, then "Katie bar the Door",lol!
