At my bride's insistence I contacted Progressive to make sure they didn't have a problem with running a car tire.  Personally I would rather ask forgiveness than permission in some cases, but I like it when momma is happy  cooldude
Below is their response.  Al

Dear Mr. Fowler,

Thank you for contacting Progressive.

I have reviewed our unacceptable risks guidelines and it does not mention that mounting a tire is unacceptable; therefore, you may do this.

You currently carry up to $1,000 of custom parts coverage.  If this addition would put you over that amount, please let us know the total value of your custom parts so that we may update your policy.  Also, I recommend you save all custom parts receipts as they can speed up the claims process.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reply to this e-mail or contact us at 1-800-PROGRESSIVE (1-800-776-4737). Our Customer Service Representatives are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist you.

It is our goal to provide you with prompt, courteous and accurate service.  Have a great weekend.

Sincerely,

Michael F.
Progressive Internet Representative

Message: I have motorcycle coverage with your company. I want to be
certain it won't affect my coverage if I mount a car tire on the rear of
my motorcycle.

Good idea to check but I've never heard of anyone having problems with insurance related to going darkside.  Now, you can sleep well.
