Strange sound in rear
«

Making a run across the State of Iowa on Monday. Was about an hour into the ride only one on the road at the moment. All is well and running fine. Suddenly a strange sound starts to come from the rear. It get louder and louder. Suddenly it sound like it is just tearing itself to pieces but yet it is riding smooth as ever. I am totally confused. It's not making any sense.
Then the sound goes from the rear of the bike to over head.
Are you ready for this?
It is a vintage B-29 following US hwy 20. There was a low cloud ceiling that day and perhaps they were looking for some landmarks or something, I couldn't say but they were less than a 1000 foot above me and man what a sight. Flys right over my head continues down the road and out of sight.
I got to start carrying a camera around.

a couple of decades ago, i was driving home from college, i looked up ahead and on each side of the highway there were two A-10 warthogs flying twords me! as soon as they were over my car they crossed over head and headed in the opposite direction!! that was too cool!!

Riding down a country road with dense forest on each side. Suddenly it sounds like a 747 is going to appear from nowhere and squash me like a bug. I'm slowing down and looking all around but can't see anything as the noise gets deafening. Then there's a flash of movement through a gap in the trees.
There's a frickin rail line running parallel and an double engine freight train haulin a$$ about 20 yards away from me.

At Locust Stake ORV area in Georgia, you used to be able to ride your dirt bike through the gorge
that this rail line goes over. The base of each of those supports has the footprint of a house.
We were down in there one day when a train went over. Holy cow what a noise...

ya other mechanical sounds can mess with your head. Have you ever noticed how cool it is to ride in a pack of Valkyries...the sound of the big sixers mixing is like harmonizing is in music. Throw a HD in the mix and it will feel like your Valk is missing sometimes....I have even had to grab the pingel to make sure the gas was on, I thought the engine was sputtering....."maybe I need some seafoam?" then I catch the HD in my mirror a little closer than before....lol a 4 banger car.truck with loud exhaust will do the same thing
