OK<  I can not get my seat off, I have a new cable to replace the old.  My guess is that I have to take off the left side cover, reach up and somehow pull the cable so it will release the seat.  From that point  I am not sure what I have to do.  I was unable to find the directions in my Clymer.  Any help will be appreciated.

You've pretty much got it figured out.  You may gain a little more room to work by removing the coolant overflow tank.
