Okay,
Here's the deal... I got a phone call from Willow and we have a Valk member and his wife stranded west of Hays,ks. I live in topeka. He said that the wheel bearing is shot and was just replaced and he thinks that the hub is torn up enough that a new bearing won't stay. So..... there is a member that said they would over night air a wheel from Ohio. Is there anyone closer to me that would sell a wheel... let me know... you can personal message me if you like to not post on here... I don't know these folks but I do know that if my wife and I were stranded I would hope someone would help me...
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.....

You might try something if you can't find a wheel. Use a coke can as shim stock and then Take a center punch and index around the outer edge to keep the bearing in place. Don't know how bad the wheel is, but maybe worth looking at. David |

Front or rear?? I have a VTX1300 rear wheel that is very similar to Valk. Does anyone know if it will fit a Valk?? Chris    |

I have done the indexing on my rim and worked like a charm. Next time I replace the bearing I going to use a coke can cut to fit around the bearing and press it in. When they chromed my rear tire they took too much out where the right bearing sets. David |

I have a wheel on a bike that I'm not riding. I'd offer it as a loaner as long as it gets returned/replaced.

Just got back from hays and damn it's hot out.... Long story short it was a combination of the wheel bearing and the ujoint. A member was kind enough to give the stranded folks a ujoint and I rode out and met Engemt on the way and we rode out and swapped the ujoint.. The old one was still in tact but there was nothing much left to it... it would have busted in two not much further down the road... Anyhow... It's hot and it was a 500 mile round trip ride... the ride out wasn't bad but the day warmed up pretty quick... I saw many many bikes west bound heading to sturgis is my guess... many on trailers... I did see a car roll in the median but the guy was okay... Looked like an older celica. He was grabbing his guitar and belongings out of his car.... Glad he is alright. Any hopefully they will be on their way and back in Ohio in record time  Thanks for the generosity of this group it is truly contagious... Joe. |

I went to several machine shops trying to find someone to fix the issue for good. No takers, but was refered to an old machinist with absolutely ancient equipment that has a small bay at the local small county airport. He was able to drill out the hub, press in a plug, and then drill the plug out to accept the oem bearing. I think it cost $100, no more problems...I will never have a wheel chromed again. |

You can buy some long feeler guages and figure how more you need and just rap the proper one arround the inside of the wheel and tap the new bearing into the wheel housing.

LOTS of people have reported bearing problems with chromed wheels. I am sure there are good chromers out there, but most seem to not give a d**n!
