Been looking at a Green/cream I/S with just under 19K miles on it.  Could use tires, but otherwise looks to be in excellent shape.  What is the thing worth?

Also, what about taller windshields (it has a +2", but I need a +4" one) and hooking up a MP3 to the thing.

Thanks

Value is so subjective. I have seen them priced at 10k and as low as 5k. I bought mine in April (same year and color) with twice the mileage for under 6k. Actual book is around 7k - depending on your area. Best thing to do is look in your city and neighboring communities and see what they are selling for.

I can't help you with the windshield question but as for mp3 players it's a piece of cake. There is a plug under the right side cover - plug in, change the radio to Aux and you are set to go.

Good luck.

Tulsa makes a taller shield, it's about six inches over stock. You may not be able to see over it if caught in the rain thou.

try for the lowest price you are willing to pay and if happy then you got a good deal. look to see what options are on it and what you might want to put on it and then check with insurance. if interested in a windshield you might want to check out clearview. good luck

Picked up my 99 IS Green and (whatever) near Boston for 7000 in early spring. Had 16K miles but been sitting, too. Been spending on the fat lady ever since.

If it is all chromed out and it's condition matches the mileage it is worth $8000 to $8500.  That is what mine brought at the dealer in Kingman, Kansas a couple of months ago. Values may go up or down in different parts of the country.  I am sure that the present state of the economy has slightly depressed the prices somewhat.

I bought a green/silver 99 Interstate a few months ago. E3 tires, oil/filter, carb adjust, brake flush, clutch flush, rear drive flush, radiator flush, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets all done/replaced only 500 miles before I bought it. It had 6500 miles on the odometer and I paid $8,500 for it. Hondaline options included trunk top chrome rack, saddlebag chrome rails, front fender chrome rail. I think I got a good deal for essentially a brand new Honda Valkyrie Interstate.

Since then I've added a few additional Hondaline accessories and spent a bit on it.  Smiley

We're each a bit different but anything you look at is essentially worth what you're willing to pay for it.

Ding Ding Ding.....   we have a winner.  It is worth exactly what you are willing to pay for it.  Some are different than others and obviously it is "wants" over "needs" here....      I want another one, but I want a super fab deal on it....   Grin

Take your time and keep looking for what you want and will pay.

A real nice low mileage ready to ride one $7000 to $8000 would be a great buy.
$9000 to $10,000 would be a good buy.

With that said bought a 1999 a few days ago for $6200 (19,250 miles), took about $150 and 5 8 hour days to get it  into nice shape. Carbs, valve cover gaskets, valve adjustment, serious clean and buff, some minor touch up.

Time is money, so figure(time and money) I have $7000 in it, but it is a nice bike now. So I consider it a very good buy.

I sold my 99 with a trailor for 13000, it had all the crome and many hard to find Items, cruise control, xm radio, gps, cb,and custom paint. so it all depends on what you have on the bike, I figure I got 11000 for the bike, its the bike at the header of this post.

I bought this 99 Interstate last month for $3,000.00 from a guy that had 2 nice Harley's in his garage. The Interstate was in need of some TLC  and it looks like he neglected her. She was in otherwise good condition. I'm in the process of bringing her back to her full glory. I'll post pictures when I'm done. This is a picture of her the day I brought her home.

I look at it like this, once you drive it, you won't ever think of the price.  I bought mine with 49k miles and paid $6900 for it.  I drive it to work everyday when it's above 40*.  I’ve probably spent about $2000 in accessories and tires.  I’ll use oil that costs $10 per quart, and I don't gripe one bit.  Every time I turn that engine over I never think of what it costs me.  It’s like a beautiful woman, you know everyone's looking at her and thinking dirty thoughts, but you're the one that gets to ride her at the end of the day and she’s all mine!

The worst part of owning a valkyrie is having to pull into the parking lot at work!  You find yourself wanting to just keep going down the road!!

You bought...or stole?? this Bike

Paul,

I've had several people tell me that I stole that bike. Last year I talked to the owner of the Interstate that I just bought and he wanted $5K for the Interstate. It was tempting, but I wasn't in the market for another valkyrie. This year I started thinking about getting another valkyrie and the wife said go for it so I started my search. I thought that the $5K Interstate was long gone, but I decided to call the guy just to check. He told me that he still had the Interstate so I made an appointment to look at the bike again. I went with $5K dollars cash since I thought that was a good deal, but hoping that he would take a little less. We talked for a few hours about the Interstate and his Harley's and I finally asked him what it would take for us to make the deal on the Interstate? He said "I'll take $3K for it". I had to try and stay calm and not show the excitement that was within me. I finally stuck my hand out and said "you have a deal". Now I have $2K to play with and get her looking like new. I've had the Brown truck and Fedex making routine trips to my house with Bling for the lady. I haven't heard of anyone else buying an Interstate for less. Yes, I think that you can say that I stole her.      cooldude

Keep your standard and buy the IS, you will not be sorry. You will be sorry that you sold the standard, if you do.

Nope, found it in Goddard, revived it and sold it to Bobz for a nice little profit.  Decided that the sandy road to the house was not safe to ride the Valk on to get to the highway.  Riding the Roadliner in the sand was bad enough.  Recently sold it also.  They will both be missed.  The new 2007 BMW Z4 Roadster is fun and a welcome change.  coolsmiley

I like my Interstate.  But I like my standard better.  I'd sell the IS for the right $$, the Standard, would take stOOpid $$ to buy from me.  There is something unreasonable about my connection with my Blue/Pearl standard.  I have said before on here... she's probably WORTH $6500, and $10K would NOT buy her.

Keep your standard IMO.
