First time out this year.Over the winter, altered bag and trunk brackets for quick removal.Installed chopped windshield and went darkside as well as other maintenance issues. The bike sure has a different look without that huge aftermarket windshield and Interstate trunk.Quite surprised in having less helmet buffetting with this chopped w/s than the stock w/s-the exposure will be nice in the warm weather. After riding about 75 miles on the Goodyear Triple Tread, other than dirt road with a high crown, I found only a subtle difference in cornering.Hey, if I can get 15k+ with this, I think I'm a convert. If I ever got the mileage that some of you guys get, I probably wouldn't bother, but my rear tires were shot at 5k if not before.
Anyway, this Valkyrie is sure a great bike and now with it looking like a bagger with that bad ass tire, it's like having a whole different bike in my stable.
Some of you guys probably don't realize how comforting it is to have such a wealth of knowledge at our disposal. With this site's help, starting with Mac's low tech lift, I replaced the brakes, radiator hoses, plugs, adjusted valves, serviced the final drive.I live where the only other choices are 2 hours away or a local hammer mechanic.Decided to take matters into my own hands.
