Anyone interested in the Fall (Oct-3) Slimey Crud Run? Planning to leave the south Minneapolis / St. Paul area around 6:30-7 am, Riding about 500-550 miles round trip, and back before dark (6:30 or so). Obviously an aggresive pace, but easily do-able with minimum number of stops and a constant pace. This ride will highlight the "Mindoro cut", "Wildcat State Park", and many, many winding, hilly Wisconsin "letter" roads. At Leland, we'll stay long enough for a sandwich, buy a T-shirt, look at a few bikes and head back, maybe an hour at the most. Still in the planning stage, just wondering if there is any interest.

Obviously a Valkyrie club posting but open to anyone who loves to ride winding roads. I usually ride about the speed limit +5to10 and don't mind waiting at intersections for people who prefer riding at a slightly slower pace. Just remember, 550 miles in 12 hours doesn't allow for a lot of down time and these are winding roads.

I got a few guys together for the spring '09 Crud Run. We stayed in Mt. Horeb for the weekend and hit some great roads and restaurants in the area. We were talking about getting some people together for the fall Run, but don't have plan in place. If I don't end up spending the weekend down there, I'll definitely ride down with you. Either way we'll have to meet up and show off the Valks in Leland.

Bump!

There were over 3,000 bikes at the Crud Run last spring when I went. I found a video that gives a good background if you haven't been there before.

I did not know there was an actual ride. I rode with a small group from Nelson, WI to Leland for the spring run. I may have to re-evaluate my plans. At this point, I'll probably just ride from the metro to Leland and back as I wouldn't have the time to do the run shown in the video. We'll have to stay in touch as the run gets closer. I'll bump this once in a while just to see if there are any other interested riders. Thanks for the video!

There's no actual planned route- you pick how you want to get from Pine Bluff to Leland. I think the shortest route you can do is about 35 miles. My group last spring did about 135 miles between the two.

The roads in the area are fantastic, hopefully some people from the area can make it! We only saw one other Valkyrie wihle we were there, so we definitely need to represent!

Was it a Red & Black Supervalk with the rider wearing a Hi-vis yellow Aerostich? I rode in with the MSTA/MN group. 2 Duc's, 2 CBR1000RR's, 1 Hayabusa, and 1 FZ1. I was the "slow" one, go figure.  Grin

Nope, it was a guy on a very low mileage '97 purple and white standard. I think it had something like 4,000 miles and the guy had owned it since 2000. Sheesh.

Hopefully some of you can make it! Here are a couple of pictures from last year:

Looking down one of the roads covered in nearly every style, age, etc. bike you can find:

There were at least three of the legendary CBX there as well:

And even a brand-new Honda Dream! Apparently they still manufacture these in Japan. The owner bought it in Japan, took it apart, shipped it home to the US, and re-assembled it.
