My gas mileage has gone up a lot, nothing to do with the bike. My girl got a Suzuki Intruder and she rides by the speed limit. Last couple of tanks have been around 40 miles per gallon. Bike is a 98 std, no shield and when I ride my self, I get around 35 per gallon.

I'm getting about 35-36 mpg. Not bad, but I think it was slightly higher originally. Could be the gas. Could be time for a tune up. Not enough of a difference to rant about.

I go to reserve on my 97 tourer at about 115. Recently, I made it to around 130 going the speed limit on the BRP...
-Mike
Funny how going the speed limit extends your milage!

I reset my odometer every time I fill up my Rat Rod Valk. At this point it is reading 178 miles since my last fill up on Sunday. We road out of Ohio on I75 at about 70-75 mph untill our exit (approx. 45 min.) and I rode to and from our local bike night in Plymouth MI. Raced two HDs on the way there and back (won of course) and I'm not the least bit worried about my milage anymore. As I'm been averaging 43 mph with quite a bit of spirited riding.
My I/S is not quite as good, but it can get 40+mpg below 70 mph.

By my rough calculations I get about 6L/100kms (or about 39.2 mpg for my American friends) on my '99 IS. My estimate is probably on the low side as I get gas as soon as the bottom bar starts to flash. I don't know how much further I'd have at that point before I'd have to use RESERVE.

2000 IS with a 6* trigger wheel. I consistently get over 200 miles on a tank. I just returned from going to the Rune rally in Tennessee from Texas. My mileage (mpg) figures for that trip are as follows:
40.7661878 39.91438356 36.61599471 38.0050261 41.68331668 38.16190989 42.45654693 39.78719974 38.27468785 36.18364419 36.17626155 36.07044831 37.80564263
That was just a hair under 2500 miles total.

I used to fill up at 200 miles when I had an IS, never did go on reserve. With mine if it was flashing it never took more than 5.5 gallons. Hoser

That sounds about right, Hoser. I get about 400 kms on a tank (highway) which converts to about 248 miles. Of course, I ride like a granny -- few if any rapid accelerations, low rev shifting and usually only about 10kms over the speed limits.

One recent trip got 199.6 on my 01 IS before goin on reserve. Forgot how much to fill up
two saturdays ago, three of us filled up at the same location. 98 Standard, mine: 01 IS, 02 Gold Wing.
The 98 got 36mpg 01 IS got 33.5 The Wing 38
I think I need to ride mine more often to get more comparisons.

99 I/S, one up, packed for vacation. I got from 29 to 34 MPG on my trip east this summer, but I was seldom under 75 indicated and I pass anything I catch up with. The throttle seems to be the funnest part of the bike... Fred.
