I'm sure they were using the safest and best gear available but the idea of going over 120mph on a wooden track with tube type tires and brakes that I wouldn't have on a bicycle sends a chill up my back.  Those were real tough guys!

Amazing racers. Their version of  modern medicine was much worse than ours and broken bones probably seldom healed right. The possible injuries from crashing at high-speed (looked like pretty high speeds to me) on a track made of slender wooden boards boggles the mind. Truly dedicated racers. Amazing.

That got my curiosity up. Here's some more info on board-track motorcycle racing I found while doing a search.

48 stars in that flag.

You mean those flags. I thought I'd caught an error at first, but actually had not. The 48 star flag I'm familiar with usually depicted the union with 6 rows with 5 columns of stars not offset.
The 50 star flag uses 5 rows with 6 columns interleaved with 4 rows with 5 columns. Most often when you see a flag with off set rows, it will be a 50 star flag.
The flag in the opening uses 6, 8 column rows alternately offset. My eye caught the offset rows and I thought I'd caught a mistake. Looking carefully I see that it is a 48 star flag.
The flags at the end change from an Indian flag, to a 48 star non-offset, and finally to the 48 star offset flag similar to the one in the opening.

Not sure anybody cares, or that it make a rats rump worth of difference, but I thought it was interesting.  
I'm sure somebody smarter than me might be able to infer something about where, when, and who edited the cut we see.

Anyway it a fascinating piece of video. Thanks for posting it Britman. This is the first time I've seen it.
