Help. Installed new rear pads, very tight, no stopping power, pads not laying flat on rotor, after short ride pulled them out and very little pad making contact and gouging new pad, How tight should the mount bolt be??

I wish I could help, but I have never changed the brakes on a bike (at least not a bike that had disk brakes).

If someone does not have an answer to your question soon, I would recommend sending an email or PM to Daniel Meyer.  He has probably forgotten more about Valkyrie brakes than I will ever know.

Did you clean the pins and pistons?  If not, may be sticking.

If you removed the pin toward the front fo the brake caliper and did not get it threaded back in properly, it can cause a misalignment as you describe. That pin does not need to be removed to replace the pads, but in case it was removed, that could be the problem. Chasing the threads with a tap is the best idea, the steel pin threads into aluminum so it's easy to cross thread.
