Got a good friend here in the Houston area.   Big Bob.   Bob is about 6'1" and weighs about 350 lbs.  Super nice guy.  He rides a Suzuki cruiser.  His daughter has had many kidney problems in the past, and his wife recently gave their daughter one of her kidneys in an operation  to save her life.    The daughter is doing fine.   Saturday Big Bob and some of his motorcycle friends went to Freeport Texas from Houston on a Saturday ride for lunch and on the way back they were coming up on some heavy stop and go traffic on Hyway 288 when a drunk non American citizen plowed into the back of them takking out 3 motorcycles.  Bob was one of them.   I talked with him yesterday and he is back home now and is going to be ok, suffered a 20 stitches cut on his leg.  A catscan shows no internal injuries.  Bob said all he remembers is one second he is riding.....the next he is on a gurney in Ben Taub Hospital.  He says he remembers nothing in between.  I asked him if he was wearing his helmet and he said yes, it saved his life as it was badly scarred up.   The guy that hit them took off running and another of the riders took off after him and chased him over a half mile through a neighborhood before supduing the guy and calling the cops.....they got him.   Probably nothing will happen to the guy but he will get deported and be back under a different name before the month is out.   and of course the guy has no insurance.

Hope everything works out for Bob. I'm aways afraid of being rearended I guess that's why I have seven running lights on the back with five of them also doubling as brake lights that flash. Thoughts and prayers are with him.

Sorry to hear that Digger.  Prayers for Big Bob for a speedy recovery.
Like Mr. Bubbles...  my greatest fear is someone taking me out from behind..  I watch for it all the time.

When he mends, you should bring him out to one of our monthly "meetings" where we meet and mostly eat/kick tires..  Smiley

when I'm riding I'm very aware of my surroundings and constantly watching left and right.....but you know......you got absolutely no control of what is happening behind you.

I talked with Bob's wife Carol this morning and the patient is doing well, actually got out of bed this morning and walked a little.   He'll be fine.   I asked her if they had heard of what happened to the Non American that hit them from behind.   She said he is still in jail on $70,000 bond....which I'm sure he can't meet the minimum of $7,000 to get bonded.....unless his court appointed attorney can get the bond lowered and he can get out.....you'll never see him again, he'll head for Mexico.  However, and I've never heard of this before, Bob and Carol signed up on the internet somehow on a county or state website that any move that is made with this guy Bob and Carol will get an email as to what is happening......pretty neat I thought.  At least you're not in the dark as to what happened to the guy.
