What this country needs more than anything right now is energy independence and I believe we could have it, if it was our number 1 goal. As long as the entire earth is dependent on that part of the world for our very lifeblood we are over a barrel (literally millions of them) and we have to keep sticking our nose in their business. We need wind farms where they make sense. We need solar panels where they make sense. We need to fully develop geo-thermal and hydo-electric power where it makes sense. We need battery technology that will allow for extended range driving.
It doesn't matter so much that all this takes time, what is important is that our country as a whole embrace the idea that we can't solve everyone elses problems and ignore our own. We need that same mindset that the country had during WW-2 when winning was the only option and everything humanly possible was done to see that happen.
Instead what we have is our representatives arguing over how to handle tax cuts and who will look like the winner in the outcome, a jackass or a "pac-e-derm"

You forgot Nuclear.  We build Nukeplants.  That's viable, safe, domestic, and actually works NOW.  We get energy independent.  If we have cheap plentiful electricity, we can MAKE fuel for vehicles.  Hydrogen will work GREAT.

Electric cars... sure... as long as you're not getting the electricity from 20% efficient power plants that are burning fossil fuels.

IMO, Nuke plants and liquid hydrogen cars.  You can even retro-fit existing cars to run on H2.

Every corner gas station can MAKE their own, and you won't have to haul it all over the place.

 uglystupid2

But the sentiment is right on.  We get off oil... we can leave their God-Forsaken sand holes.

Or perhaps use them as you think they should? Grow up.

And yet another great reply from, oh I can only guess, a...liberal.  No reply to the actual post.  No insight to thought processes, just a childlike insult sort of.  How liberal.

Nope. A conservative patriot from the Great State of Texas. 20+ year retired veteran. 5 kids, lovely wife. Have served with many faiths and ethnicities. And what I know is that all Muslim people are not radicals, just like I know all Christians are not out shooting up abortion offices. If anyone here would take the time to do the research, you would see that Islam has been practiced in this country for quite some time. Along with Judaism, Buddhism, Satanic Worship, etc. And if you look at major causes of death in this country, drunk driving has killed more people than terrorism. It just doesn't get the airplay on the major networks, unless a football star or movie personality is involved.

This country has been attacked before, and guess what, it will happen again. Perhaps not in my lifetime, but it will happen. You want peace? Me too, and it comes at a cost. And you don't get it by "bombing them back to Hell".. Bomb WHO back to hell?? Geez, if this is the new 'conservative speak', you can have it. This attitude is similar to those nutjobs at Westboro. WHy not just put everyone who ISN'T like you in an interment camp, until we can sort all this out? Hmmm, let me think. BECAUSE WE DID THAT BEFORE AND IT DIDN'T WORK!
And please don't hit me about thought processes. You don't want someone to disagree with your opinion? KEEP IT TO YOURSELF. And I processed all this while buffing out the last coat of wax on my I/S. SO there, bike-related..

But,

1) You didn't disagree with me.  You tried to belittle me by telling me to grow up.
2) I welcome differences of opinion, when they are offered and explained.  You didn't do this.
3) I never grouped all Muslims into ANY categories and never denied anyone their right to do anything
4) Your reply STILL has nothing to do with the premise or idea of my post.  Again, we are basing decisions on whether or not terrorists will be mad at us.  This is exactly what they want.  Mission accomplished.  If you are stating that we are not basing decisions upon the possible reaction of terrorists, show me that I am wrong and that this is not happening.  I gave a few examples of where I see this to be the case.  You did not show me examples where this is not the case.  All you did was come back with a snyde remark.  This is not a difference of opinion, it was meant as an insult to me.  From my experiences with others on this board and from what I have seen in the media as of late, this is a practice performed by those on the left.
5) I am sorry that I assumed you were a liberal.  My reason for doing so is explained above.

G-Man,

Let me tell you something.  If George w bush wanted to kill terrorism, he would have hit them were it hurts and DEMANDED the three auto makers to produce a non gasoline engine, or some other alternative fuel type of vehicle, BUT NO! He has to keep his Texas oil buddy happy while the continuing money transfer to Saudi Arabia goes unchecked!!  We didn’t have to send a single bomb to Iraq or Afghanistan.  We could have made the Saudis so hungry for food that THEY would have given us binladin to us!!

Why is it that only Japanese companies are producing electric cars?  We hear all this talk about the Chevy “volt” but, when’s it going to get to market???

Just my thought.

Thanks for your input, but what does this have to do with our country caving in and making decisions based on the response of terrorists?

There is a small clique here that loves to throw around the “L” word towards anyone who doesn’t support their simple knee-jerk reactions to complex situations.  Rational responses seem to draw more name calling and encourage others in the clique to jump in.  Use of the word “Liberal” here has become a substitute for calling someone a dirty name.  I doubt the name callers even know the meaning or origin of that word.

Well, I apologized for labelling him a Liberal, and I gave the reason for my assumption.

I do not believe that my post was knee jerk reaction.  The Imam stating that if he doesn't build, terrorists will be moved into action was the LAST straw for me.  If this is not another decision, based on the reaction of terrorists, then it was an outright threat from the Imam to the American people.  I did not want to make that leap just yet.  If I am wrong, please show me how, instead of categorizing me.  If you read my posts within this thread, I didn't attack anybody who posted in opposition to my original post.  I replied back with a polite and honest reply.  The only post I did not do this to was the one that came back with an attack, and not a reply in opposition.

I think we should make decisions based on their response.  I think we should thumb our nose at them at every opportunity.  Keep playing THEIR game.  They made the rules... and we should BEAT them at THEIR game.

It SUCKS that it would come to that... but they ARE NOT willing to live and let live, no matter HOW much we cave into them.  Caving only enboldens them, and it'll only get worse and worse.

I still believe the only option is to kill more of them than they can kill of us.  That's HOW you WIN wars.

Or... we could offer ALL their women $100K to defect, and come to America.  Beat them in a generation by attrition.

I have tried my best to stay out of this thread, not because I do not believe in much of what has been said, but rather because I sometimes feel that I am too radical. I am going to try and post a couple of pictures that the main stream media has never aired, at least I have never seen them until recently. I strongly feel that our POLITICAL CORRECTNESS has begun to back fire on us. What is the opld saying? give them an inch, and they will take a foot? or more!

I agree with what the British chap had to say about we had better wake up before it is too late to do so.

The following pictures are of streets in the City of New York, and from what I have been told,  these actions are played out every Friday between 2pm and 4pm on city streets, blocking traffic for all the other citizens to deal with. I understand that not all of these people are RADICAL TERRORISTS, but it sure seems to me that there is a plan.

Shouldn't they have to get a demonstration permit or something in order to block the streets like that?

The pictures are apparently of the American Muslim Day Parade, which takes place every year since 1985.

Now, I would never suggest that these pictures with an incorrect caption are simply propaganda to fan the flames of hatred of a select few.   Roll Eyes  Lips Sealed

Question...

Suppose someone in your family or close friends was killing people...what would you do? Do you take responsiblity and report them or do you let total strangers take care of the problem?

I think that is why so many of us are pissed...Muslims will not denounce the radicals, when the catholic priest were abusing children, the church moved the priest around and covered up the problem. Only making it worse...it was not until pressured to clean thier house was some of the problems resolved. If the muslim religion does not out the bad guys, then in my eyes they are just as big of a problem as the ones claiming to be muslims and doing the dirty work.

Remember, someone has to clean the house...if we have to do it, we have to do it...and you have no right to complain on the job, or how it gets done.

As for Bush forcing the automakers to build electric cars, your boy in office now, bailed out 2 or the 3 US automakers, so where was he to force them to make electic cars? After all, he bailed them out along with the Democratic house and senate...hmm...

Thank you, Bobbo.  We greatly appreciate your not saying that, but be careful with your commitments.  Never encompasses a long, long time.    Wink

The question is how much denouncing is enough to satisfy you?  What medium should the denouncers use?  Are you paying attention when American Muslims denounce acts of violence?  The same question can be used when a Christian terrorist murders a doctor.  If the questioner ignores other Christians condemning the murder, he would similarly conclude that Christians do not denounce the radicals.

Ok, maybe denounce was not a strong enough word, wipe out, cleanse, do away with. When I mean clean house, i mean take out the trash! I am sure that thru the inner circles of the muslim religion they know who the bad guys are, just as we know what christian groups we need to keep an eye on. So when there are problems, we know where to look first. I also, am pretty sure, christians around the world are not blowing them selves up to make a point. What would happen if that were the case?

I am just saying, that it needs to be dealt with from within, or we will do what we need to do and worry about colateral damage later.

9/11 was the wake up call and well it seems that 9 years later people are forgetting! I say leave no rock unturned...
