Hi, I want to put other bulbs in the lightbar (less Watts) - but I cannot determine what type of bulb these are? In front of the glass is positioned vertically the bulb - on 2 wires. How to change such a bulb - looks a strange setup to me. I hope the photo is clear enough to see.

Looks like a 4" sealed beam unit. They're made in a couple of wattage ratings - 35 and 55w.
J&P, your local Harley dealer and similar shops should carry them.

Yes, they are not bad, but I am stuck now with the original ones that pull too much watts out of my battery! Cruisercustomizing has a lot of lightning stuff, but I did not find a replacement bulb like there is in my lightbar now. and what to do if 1 bulb does not work anymore ? Do I have to buy then 2 new spotlights?

The bulb is integrated into the sealed beam lamp. You have to buy an entire new sealed lamp. I usually replaced them both at the same time, as they do grow dimmer over time. The replacement spots I referenced also include new chrome housings, as well as 25 watt sealed lamps.

Get these, NAPA number 4411, commonly reffered to as tractor or implement lights. 35 watts, ten bux or less at most parts stores. I have the 55 watt wagners like yours and replaced them with these. :cooldude:Hoser

How to change such a bulb - looks a strange setup to me. I hope the photo is clear enough to see. Those are the 50 Watt version, The lamps listed below, you should be able to pick up at a local auto store are, GE H7616 they only use 36.5 watts and put out 70000 CP. Lights up the road very well. To remove the lamps, take the chrome band off the light, drop the glass bulb down and remove a couple of wires. Simple. I run the ones you show in your picture. They are on anytime the engine is running. I've never had a problem with battery draw. If you are, then I'd be checking to see how them puppies are wired....... Sounds like no relay, probably no fuse either. If that be the case, it is just a fire looking for a place to happen. As Forrest Gump would say: “That's all I have to say about that.”

RJ ,
I have put a 30A relay + fuse between the battery and the lights.
There is only 1 wire to connect to, so impoqqible to make a mistake here.
The triggerwire for the relay is taken in the headlamp (an always - current wire) - anyway, the triggerwire is not important as it only opens the relay, and he does, so I think everything is wired like it should.
The battery is not drained, only at idle when I put on these 2 lights, then I see and hear a drop in rpm of 100 rpm.
When I drive with them , the battery seems to be charged fully.
Could I put other lamps , less Watt, in it myself - which bulbs are these then- how are they called?

RJ, you have the same lamps as I have, can you start your engine WITHOUT THE LAMPS ON and let it idle. PUT NOW THE LAMPS ON and what do you see on the rpm-meter? and what do you hear? If yours drops also 100 rpm at idle when putting lamps on then mine is O.K. Thanks

I'm not RJ, but I had those lights and that sounds normal to me, I put the 35 watt lights on I pictured above because they are more visible in the daytime, as compared to the narrow beam wagners. Plus they are WAY cheaper. And I am cheap! Hoser

So for the markerlights under my engineguard I have the solution : I put each side an 3-led MR16 lamp (consumption 3x1W = 3W each) The 50W halogen that was in it did give lots of light - with these you could see better - what I have now equals a 20W halogen in lightning, but people see me coming because they are xtra bright (6000-7000K) and that was the purpose. Idle stays like it was before that I put those lamps - so with these I am happy, no alternator in short time! The GE H7616 that you proposed were excellent for the cobra bar, only I live in Belgium and here nobody has ever heard about that system of sealed lamps - and buying in America costs too much (50 euro customs + transportcost another 35 dollars..........) If anyone comes to Belgium they are welcome to bring a pair of those GE H7616 for me - you will be paid
