Here are a few photos of my almost complete fairing project. I received my powerport today so I will add it tomorrow and redo my mounting brackets. After I had fabricated some I was going through the box before throwing it away and found a pair in the box. I will still have to modify them just a tad but they will be a tiny bit more stable than what I did.
I still want to add a piece of chrome below the screen and maybe get a slightly taller screen.
Also I want to add the custom hand painted design that is on the side of the bike to the center of the cream portion. Problem is I am no artist. I was thinking about taking a photo to a local sign maker and see if he could make me a decal to match or maybe I could find a local artist who would stripe it and not charge me an arm and a leg.

You've done such an A-#1 job so far, I'd hate to see you cheapen it by cutting corners on the design on the fairing to match the bags. Here's to hoping you can find someone affordable to do it right.

If you come and do The Dragon a guy has a small shop set-up at Deal's Gap and does custom pinstriping on site. He's very good and could match what you have on the bags. He did some work for Big Al on the trunk he has on his Kawasaki Mean Streak best I can remember it cost him $60.00.Nice job on the bike I like it  cooldude

How do you like the PIAA 005s, and did they mount right up with the kit?

Great job on a bike that's the same color as mine. I've been thinking about doing something like that. How's it like riding behind the stubby windscreen?

The bags are Tsukayu Jumbo Strong Bags. The  chrome trim is part of their accessories.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Been thinking about this project for a while. The fairing is made for a Road King. The Road Kings headlight and fork width is within a millimeter or 2 of that of the Valkyrie so it fits pretty well.

The Mounting brackets were included in the purchase, The fork mounts that I used were from my old RIFLE WINDSHIELD that I accidentally broke a few months back. (accidentally closed the garage door on it)

The speedo and Tach are i believe it was 92mm in diameter. Just happens the larger hole saw is 92mm which made for a nice clean perfect sized cut.

The stereo is a flush mount black box unit http://www.rocktheboataudio.com/html/37942.html Speakers are http://www.rocktheboataudio.com/html/38318.html  mp3 port is http://www.rocktheboataudio.com/html/32289.html

I did all the labor, paint and fabrication myself to save a few bucks.

I agree with not cutting corners. (If you can think of that guys name let me know. ) I plan on being up there in a few months. I am going to the Ozarks for the 1st week of Oct. to do some riding.  I just got my boss to change my shift schedules I will be getting 5 days of in a row every other week. So I will be taking more road trips!

Here are a few photos of the mounts etc. as requested.

Mounting Bracket

I had to make a notch to make the turn signal fit. I relocated the turn signal down the fork a few inches. It will fit in their original position but the bottom of the fairing rest on them. Not a real problem I just prefer they not rub against each other.

High beam, turn and neutral lights. found some chrome ones at O'Reilly's and Auto zone, about $8.00 ea.

Initially I used a piece of 2x4  block, shaped it to fit and used some construction glue to fill the gaps and adhere it to the fairing. Then I attached the speedo/tach to it using their original mounting bracket.
If this fails I plan on changing the mount to an aluminum 1 inch flat bar running the width of the two and secured to the top of the black box and shimmed as needed.

Jess the PIAA005 mount right up with no issues at all. I had a pair on my ST1300 which  seemed to put out light further down the road. These have a broader pattern but still increases visibility 2 fold. Make me much more visible too wich is one of my main concerns.

Great job on a bike that's the same color as mine. I've been thinking about doing something like that. How's it like riding behind the stubby windscreen?

Surprisingly my over-sized extra wide Rifle windshield with lowers cut the wind off me better. It was almost a dead calm behind it.
However I do like the stubby windscreen. I will get a slightly taller one and some lowers for the long hauls and winter time. This feels good on hot days.

Most of the wind comes from underneath so I think the lowers will help a lot.

I don't  know. I would think they would fit but not sure if they would follow the curve of the bag exactly.

Lowers may only help a little. The fork deflectors will help with head buffeting, at least mine did. My hat would blow off till I added the fork defl. Did nothing about the wind underneith. Get the batwing fairing deflectors. I put some on mine and took all the wind off my chest. Make sure you get enough clearance between them and your tank at full lock. Mine hit a tad. HD/Kury make dragonfly wings that are great. They open and close.

Your right. My oem shield was far better protection then the batwing. If the b'wing was not such a great Dakota wind cutter I would not have it on anymore. Plus it makes the bike more stable at triple digits.  crazy2

I assume this us a kit fairing?  Where'd you get it?  Also, what about the fork mounts.....what/where can I get ones that would work on the Valk forks with the HD fairing?

Looks Great! I bought fairing and inner that needs some touch-up and no mounting bracket or windshield. Hope mine turns out even half as good as yours!
