I am putting this out there as the coordination point for all of us who are planning on riding to the Texas State Ride In on Oct 8th from the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

I am leaving Friday morning from Lavon, East of Dallas.  I'm thinking of waiting for rush hour to subside before I head out.  Maybe a meeting location off of 75 to eat some breakfast and then head out.

The route is up to the group that decides to gather.  Obviously, 35 South to Round Rock and then over to Kerrville is an option or the longer router down 67 to Hico then continuing South on 281 to Burnet then to 29 to Llano then to 16 to Kerrville is the more scenic route but will take more time.

I'm open to any and all suggestions.  I would just like to ride down with a group if possible.

So, DFW folks chime in here and let's get a route defined.

Would love to ride down with more, but I am going to avoid I35.

Liz and I are going, riding down with someone else going also.  He's not very active in VRCC.  We live in Lake Dallas.  I go hunting and have family in that area.  I always catch Hwy 377 in Benbrook (SW of Ft Worth) go though Grandbury, and Stephenville, and the take Hwy 16 in Comanche and take it down to Fredericksburg.  16 continues into Kerrville.  Its about a 5 hour ride from here.

We are planning on KSU at 9:30 at the QT in Lake Worth (west Ft Worth) on the SE corner of Hwy 199/Jacksboro Hwy.  I am hoping on being there by 9.  Stopping about an hour and half later for lunch at the Hard Eight in Stephenville.  Good BBQ and they will dip anything in hot butter!

Maybe well have 2 groups out of DFW area.  Feel free to email me or post if you or anyone has questions.  Especially if you plan on riding with us so I can know who/how many to expect.

Definitely interested in avoiding I35 ! !

Lori and I might want to join up with you.  She's fighting a mild eye infection which has GOT to go away before she'll got on the bike.

We'll know by next Wed for sure.

If its not better by then we'll probably have to cancel all together.  Cry  Cry

We're heading out Friday morning and will check back to see who's leaving from where and when.  We'll be out of town all week, so I'll be out of touch until Thursday night.

Here's a bit more info for riding out from DFW for those wanting to go.  So far I have 1 definite and several possibles joining up.  Here is a link to the map if anyone is curious.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Unknown+road&daddr=2033+Sidney+Baker+St,+Kerrville,+TX+78028-2589+(Y+O+Ranch+Resort+Hotel)&hl=en&geocode=FYqi9AEd8ngx-g%3BFSfFygEd6JMX-iHB8zb96i5kfinpZ0Tmc-NbhjEMKuUVHr3kzw&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=0&sz=17&sll=32.809144,-97.424022&sspn=0.00652,0.009645&ie=UTF8&ll=30.06655,-99.119318&spn=0.013426,0.01929&z=16

Total mileage about 250, ride time 4hr 30min.  I expect to ride into the YO around 3:30.

KSU at 9am at the QT.
Lunch and gas in Stephenville at the Hard 8 about 10:45, about 67 miles.  We might be joined by 5_19 (TJ) who lives in Dublin.

Gas again in San Saba, about 90 miles.

Into the YO, about 93 miles.

Bumping for anyone that is leaving from the Dallas side of town on Friday morning.  Disco?

If I can't find anyone I will try and hook-up with ThagAndy and company in Stephenville for lunch.

Hi Jim,

Sorry I haven't chimed in before now, but I've been hoping some of the too-many moving parts would quit wiggling.  None have, and in fact, there is a new development as of yesterday that could prevent the trip altogether.   Sad   I won't know until late this afternoon.

If things work out, Tom & I have talked about leaving Frisco around 8:00 and taking 380 west to Decatur before turning south.  That would take us almost completely out of the metromess and prevent a meet-up in Ft Worth, but not rule out a meet up in Stephenville - unless we go to Hico for PIE and have lunch at Cooper's in Llano.  See?  More moving parts...

As far as I know at the moment, there is only 2 of us leaving from Lake Worth in the morning.  A few others have talked about meeting in Stephenville for lunch and continuing the ride from there.  If thats the case, just let me know thats what your plan is so I can know who and how many to expect there.  I plan on being at the Hard 8 around 10:45 and spend around an hour there, plus a gas up.  If I need to stay a little longer thats fine as well, just so I know ahead of time.  Shoot me an email if you need my phone #.  I wont be able to answer if I'm riding but, I'll call you back soon as I stop.

I am going to leave around 7 in the morning.  Google says it will take me 2 hrs 38 minutes to get to Stephenville.  However, I am coming from the East side of Dallas, so I will have to make my way down 30 to 635 to 20 then to 67.  I'm hoping that 30 and 635 won't be too bad.  I have your number.  If I get delayed, I'll call and let you know.

We've got some errands to run early in the morning, dropping off the pooch at doggie jail.

We're hoping to get headed out by 9'ish from the Lewisville area and moseying south.
Looking forward to an awesome weekend.

At this point, chances are very slim that Janet will feel well enough to travel this weekend, so, with her blessing (permission!) I'll meet BnB Tom & Lori, and probably Houdini & Misty at the Market Street gas station in the NW quadrant of Eldorado & Dallas North Tollway at 0800.  KSU as soon as possible after that.  If anyone would like to join us, please post, email, call, or text.  My cel is too won fore nein fife sevin won oh sex too.  Our route will take us west on 380 to Decatur, the south to Hico for PIE.  Then it's an undetermined route to Llano for some Cooper's Q and on to Kerrville.  ETA between 1600 & 1700.

Is that the one in the old house on the east side of 16?  If so, we ate there on the way to Kerrville last time.  It was good.  Never been to Coopers, though...

I'll text you and Deb from Hico with an ETA Llano.
