I have been admiring this K1200LT when it shows up in the garage infrequently.  I saw it today and finally met the dude that owns it.  This guy is a manager that works all the time, so it only has 5K miles on it!  This might be my favorite color for the K1200LT I have ever seen.

This swingarm is only on the right side......

From what I've heard about the K1200LT  ...You think the final drive on the Valkyrie is a weak link  Undecided it could'nt hold a light to that thing .

I had two LT's (at different times) in the last 4-5 years. Nice bikes - but no stealers near me. Very important.
Had  a gray '99 and an "Impala Brown" after that. Had a heck of a time unloading the brown one. So yeah - the color is important.
05 and up have a power center-stand. Always wanted one, just for effect, to show off in a parking lot full of bikes. Reverse was impressive, too.
I'm still in like with my Valk IS and haven't looked back. Beemer's 6-banger is coming out next year btw...

I worked for a bmw dealer for a while and the final drive is a very week link, at any given time we would have 3 or 4 in the shop at a time, the good part bmw took care of most of them, but when they go out you maybe some where no where near a dealer.

They are pretty neat bikes.
Am a big fan of the R1200 bikes.
Don't know if I'll ever own one though, can't afford the wardrobe all bimmer guys seem to have to have. Has anyone ever seen a rider on a BMW in jeans and a t-shirt?

my dentist let me test drive his k1200 right after i bought my Valk.  he told me that he almost bought a Valk and that it was his choice bike if honda still made them.  he didn't want to have a cycle that the company didn't make anymore......

anyway, i did like his cycle, the only thing i didn't like about it was that the seat was too high!!  i don't like standing tippy toed at the light, even though all those cycle instructors say you're never supose to have both feet on the ground when at a light.....

i would love to test drive the new six cyclinder they're coming out with!!  do a little compairison shopping!!

There are lots of articles and photos of the new K1600 bikes circulating (2 versions: 1 with a trunk and 1 without).  I've read they'll have 160HP and loads of torque.  The 1800 Wing won't be even close performance-wise, so we'll soon know if Honda intends to lead with a new Wing, or follow.  Here's one of several sites with pics out there:  http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news-new-bikes/bmw-k1600lt-prototype-spotted-in-usa/12054.html

Joe isn't kidding.  BMW uses shims set the preload on the final drive bearing.  One of my best friends has one.  It's up for sale now.  Replacing the bearing for the 3rd time was enough for him.  If you want to use the BMW power ports you have to have special plugs or adapters.  I've watched Jim perform maintenance and was amazed.  He has a special box labeld for all the fasteners.  Watching all that plastic come off and go back on was enough to make me not want one.

WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a very cool looking motor.  I do like the BMW tourers, but the foot position is even tighter than Valkyrie's.

Everytime i see one reminds me of camping at the Buffalo Chip in 06. Its a muddy mess when it rains. A dude on one like that, same color i believe, when around a curve in the grass to his camp sight and went down. It was all mud. It was kinda funny to watch. He slid in and dumped it and wheel was slinging mud every where as he held the throttle.  2funny

Well so did everyone else. Everyone got their chairs and sat nearby. Musta been 20 of us sitting there. We watched 15 bikes that hour go down. Of coarse we helped pick them up.
