That can also cause popping and backfiring, especially if they are loose and you have a modified airbox, K&N air filter, or modified exhaust. If you had any popping, it's probably also gone now. Wink

Thanks for the Post, I to am smelling gas, so now I know were to go , I did suspect it thought, I have had to tighten the air box screws before but never done the intake. My bike has been running good and had been getting some of the best gas mileage I've ever had, so I just put up with the smell.

Now that winter has settle in I'll have to put the screw driver to work!

Thanks again!

Wow! Great post. . . I’ve smelled the same thing for at least the last 2 or 3 years and have never been able to figure it out. I kept taking off my air box off and cleaning/re-oiling the K & N. . .  I can’t believe so many of us were having the same problem.  Obviously, it must be a slight design flaw or maybe just routine maintenance that many of us didn’t know about? Anyway, I’m going to pull mine completely off and put some blue locktight on them. Thank you for the post brother. . . .

Actually the pod comes off pretty easy...... 4 hex screws and a bit O wiggling.... 5 mins if you've done it before.... 15 to 30 min if new to it.....

there are actually 3  hex screws on the pod that have to be removed, 1 on the top 1 on the side and 1 in the front. there's a tab on the lower rear that slides in a rubber groment. after you remove the 3 hex screws pull straight out on the lower rear of the pod to release it from the rubber groment.
