Angie and I are going to ride up to Lynchburg TN Saturday for the Jack Daniels BBQ cookoff. If anyone would like to ride along with us, we will be leaving from Bojangles in Athens at 0900 to ride up. There may be some other bikes or it may just be us, but the invitation is open if anyone would like to tag along. Please let me know if anyone is interested so I have an idea how many bikes there might be.

Tim

Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like only Alabama riders could participate in this ride. Just that was where we are leaving from. Anyone on 2 or 3 or even 4 wheels is welcome to ride along. Looks like we are going to have several bikes, so hope to have a good ride. As Smokin' Joe sez,  "Bring it, let's ride!!"

This is a small world, if I'm not mistaken that is exit 351 and there is a Starbucks next door.  If so, I've spent a small fortune in that same spot!

You are correct  cooldude  I've never been one to pay $5.00 for a cup of coffee however I've walked through the parking lot many times to get to the mexican resturant.

Joe I agree with you completely.  My wife sees it differently....especially when her husband is foolish enough to pay for it!   crazy2

That Starbuck's is about 2.5 miles from my house.  My wife and I may be interested, but not sure yet.

Tim won't be able to make it. We are having a Fall Famly cookout on Sat. about 39 people, my wife would kill me if I went and still make me do the cooking. Have fun Tim.

Tim, I'll let you know about Saturday as soon as I know if I'm heading out to Lincoln or not.  Turns out I might not be able to do either; Saturday will be the only day Angie will be home this week before she heads back out for another week, so I might end up just spending the day with her.  Either way, I'll let you know.

Dave

P.S.  It is a mighty small world....the Day's Inn and the Starbucks are probably about a mile from my house.... uglystupid2

Well, I've been off the computer a couple days.  So let's see.  160 miles from Pontotoc MS, be there at 9:00 am Saturday at Bojangles, sure as the famous SmokinJoe says " Let's Ride".  I've always wanted to go the the Jack Daniels Distillary.  See at Athens AL Saturday.

If y'all don't mind having a Tennessee rider on a 750 Shadow join you, I might like to make the long distance  Grin ride from Fayetteville, TN over to Lynchburg.

Since this is my first post on this board, please allow me to introduce myself (says Mick Jagger):

I'm a retired old fart who just got back into bikes early this year after a 37 year hiatus. Last bike was a '72 Honda 350 - no it wasn't mine - it belonged to another fella in the triplex I lived in and he just left the keys in it when he didn't have plans to use it. If the keys were in it , it was yours to use whenever you wanted (nice guy). I like my 750 Shadow ACE Deluxe just fine, but I'm a big fella and I'd like a little more oooommph sometimes, and I've always liked the looks of the Valk.

We live on a small (9 acres) farm in Fayetteville, TN. I like to spend my time competing in Cowboy Action Shooting (2009 & 2010 Alabama State Champion in my age category), motorcycles, reading, old tractors and computers.

Angie and I made it home safe. Thanks to everyone for coming out.   cooldude We had a blast. It was good meeting new people and reacquainting with others.  Hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.

The ride up was fun. Had 11 bikes leave Athens and picked up 2 more in Ardmore. Some went their separate ways from Lynchburg with other destinations in mind. A couple of the VRCC members were heading on up to ride Cherahola and Deals Gap. Another was taking the long way back home to Corinth MS. The BamaRiders who left Lynchburg together rode Hwy 50 to hwy 121 to 64 to 122 to 97 to AL65. We stopped for gas and conversation in Gurley as some of the group was going to be heading back toward Athens from there. Huffy and Lazee Bum caught back up with us at the gas stop. Lazee Bum was one of the guys headed back toward Athens to Florence so Huffy, Angie and I rode together back toward Hartselle and Cullman.

218 miles door to door for us.  Good food, good weather, good roads and good company. It just don't get much gooder!!    Grin

Hope to see you all again soon and share some more wind.

All day long, as I worked on building a gardening shed for my bride, I could hear the bikes going by on Hwy. 50 (Lynchburg Highway). I've got three sides framed and skinned with plywood and the metal roof on - gotta finish the front and then put up the Hardie Board siding.

Glad y'all had a great ride - I like Lynchburg. Its a neat small town and very motorcycle friendly police. Oh, yeah......it also has the Jack Daniels Distillery!! cooldude

I just got in from the Lynchburg ride.  Maybe a bit later than most, but we had quite a bit of fun.  Took off east from Lynchburg, and followed who knows how many roads (I was just following and enjoying the ride), endd up in Sweetwater for the night.  Hit the Cherohala, then the Dragon for two passes.  Took the long way home, and got back to Huntsville about an hour ago.

Thanks to Tim for the first part of the ride, and to Ron for the remainder.  Once again, great hospitality from the Alabama riders, and great riding in the area.
It was very good to meet everyone, and I hope to see you again on my next trip.

Thanks.  We made it back, and I was even mostly dry.  I got barely rained on before I made it home, but Ron had another 30 miles to go, and I bet he got rather damp.  Well, other than that, it was beautiful weather all weekend.
