Rolled out of the garage at 8.30. 34F and my heated jacket liner and gloves were switched on. Headed north into North Carolina to meet Smokin Joe and others. Lots of law enforcing being done on GA400. State Troopers and local sheriffs' raising money for the local State and county coffers. Cloudless blue skies. The wind funneling through the north Georgia mountain valleys was terrible. At times it felt like i was being pushed down. In fact on a couple of sharp bends I had to lift the bike up to stop from being forced over too far. At the top of Blood Mountain the wind was blowing the Stars and Stripes upwards.

On to The Field of Woods. The first possible meeting place with theTenneessee riders http://www.westernncattractions.com/fieldsof.htm At first this looked like "The Lady of the Lake" I hung around for about 20 minutes gettign cold. No signal on my Verizon phone. I then headed to the next possible meeting point. Hiawassee dam http://www.tva.gov/sites/hiwassee.htmI hung around for about 15 minutes getting cold again. Made a right turn out of the overlook parking lot. In the past I've always turned left but today was the day to explore. Wow what a blast. Zoom bloody zoom, zoom. Lots of bend and sharp curves with even a few 60 to 80 mph straights. Of course that's my estimate of how fast one could go if one wanted to exceed the posted speed limit. Oops blacktop changes to dirt road without warning. So I take the road on the right. Yee-Ha this is even better. This is like Deals Gap without other traffic or police hindering forward progress. Stopping on a bridge I am able to contat joe who tells me the group is in Tellico Plains, TN. Once home I realise I was only about 30 miles from them. I had thought I was further away. The water level in the reservoir was way down.

if I remember correctly. I took that last summer, thought I would run out of gas as I was low when I made that turn. Lots of cars and trucks pushed off the side of the road.

I tell Joe I am going to head to T.WO. for lunch. I call T.W.O. and leave voice mail asking if they are open for lunch. http://www.twowheelsonly.com/After getting to Blairsville I check my phone for messages. T.W.O. is not open for lunch. GT says "It's blowing like crazy and 38F here. We're open tomorrow". Disappointed I start heading back to metro Atlanta. I find this beauty on the side of the road.

The cold will play tricks on the mind Britman.
Sorry we missed you.
We ate at Elsies Restaurant , almost directly across the road in Andrews NC I believe.
You could see the McDonalds across the road from where we dined(Don,Coot, Yourself, and I).
On the KLR Expeditionary Force Ride, during the annual Fall Color Ride at Robbinsville.
Maybe next time.

Elsies is good if a tad slow on the service. Did you get to Brasstown Bald?

Negative, after we found out the meet up with you was a bust.
Joe shortened the Ride, you guessed it, right by the Fields of the Wood and East on 74 to US129
to the Dragon via Robbinsville.
We had a good ride and hope you did as well..

Being a bit harsh on yourself big guy.
We'll get'em next time.
Everybody had a great day of riding and all made it home in the same shape as we left.
Good ride is when we all come home safely.
