intro & tech help

98(fast black) std valk owner & long time lurker on the board, but now I need your help. As my name states I had the FUN of of being the last guy in a 6 car pile up on the freeway, even though I was able to fly a short distance over the wreck the landing really hurt both me and the valk. Im pretty much healed but the valk is still on the mend. When I hit between the car & K-rail it saved the forks but took out the crash bars, timing cover L/S timing gear, radiator, handle bars, windshield & tach case(tack is ok)! What is messed up big time is she went up and over on her back & bent the rear fender/frame ears down & to the left side about 4". what I plan on doing is using a long bar with holes drilled at the shock & fender mounting holes & using eyeball engineering & a torch level the bike & pull up and over each rail till they look straight! Heres what I need from you, the inside measurement between the fender mounting holes & any better ideas you may have! Every piece of tin is bent, even the fuel tank, soooo it looks like she will have to go back together as more of a "RAT" bike then the fine lady I first built. Tons of chrome & a one off hand done flame job by a hero of mine McPeak(so cal) all down the tubes. But like the Phoenix she will rise once again and then. people will fear parking next to me rather then the other way around.

Welcome aboard Crash. Glad your healing.
I came here after totaling my bike and bought a Valk while I was healing. I have a 98 (fast black Tourer). She is set-up solo for now maybe I can get you some close numbers from above the fender. With it bolted together the numbers are probably not accurate.

Not much help to you. I have some large inside and outside calipers and I couldn't get them to the frame. Mostly eyeball gave me 9 7/8 inches inside/inside.
I would measure a frame for accuracy.

THX Bone, at least that's a starting place. I wish I knew someone with a frame but there just doesn't seem to be many out here in SoCal (Fontana). I was thinking about cutting them off like Scorch & shorting the rear fender but then I would have no place for THE wife to ride.
