WOW .... I feel like I hit pay dirt with this posting. I've seen names on here I've never seen before. This is a special place this forum for people who choose to ride a special kind of bike. We all need you 'ol timers' who've been around here for a long time to keep up the spirit and to encourage us newbies to carry on the torch so to speak.
Exactly!... on all counts!

Quote
Maybe you need to hold the Inzane back in Zaneville to rekindle that spirit - kinda like a 10 yr reunion. Also, is there a reason why it's held mostly in the Eastern USA ??  The Rocky Mtn. states have a lot to offer but maybe there's not many members out there ??

It's a long, not so interesting story about the east/west thing.  2010 was the 10 year anniversary; Zanesville was under discussion for a reunion of sorts, but the hotel has changed ownership and was not that cooperative... also, not really big enough for the attendance we anticipated.

Botman Nick... I remember the handle... and his passing. Is he the guy who did Wedding World from Waterbury, CT? I have a VHS tape he sent me (December 2003) with some VRCC stuff on it. I've never opened the mailer box it came in. I've never had a VCR... so I can't play it. I don't know what's on it... don't know how I ended up with it. Anybody know him or his family... I'd be happy to send it to you or them. Never opened... never played... untouched by my hands. May he rest in peace.  sheets

Well, since I am a newbie to this board, but not to life, motorcycling, or other associations, I feel that I have to chime in here.

I can tell you that I have been fortunate in corresponding with, both on the board, in email, by phone, and met in person some of the nicest folks I have ever met. Anywhere! Period!

Someone is always willing to answer a question, provide suggestions, share an adventure, etc. I am amazed the the breadth of knowledge that exists on this board.

True, I have also read some of the nastiest comments that casual aquaintenses have made toward each other over stuff as trivial as the interpretation of a video, and have wondered why I was wasting my time reading that crap. But then I realized that I could just skip to the end, and make believe that it was not there. So that is what I choose to do now.

I also love to remember the old days. Of course that comes with the built danger that the present will never ever be as good as the past. That is why some of the worst times in history are now referred to as "The good old days". It's why the worst ride any of us ever took ends up being a fantastic adventure when we look back on it. That is just how it goes!

So let me assure some of you "old timers" or more correctly stated, "long time members of the board" since I'm probably older than some of you, that the VRCC is still home to some fantastic people. It has relevance, is interesting, can be controversial, allows freedom of expression, and keeps drawing me back in. So, enjoy it for what it is, don't complain about what it has been, could be, or is not.  cooldude

There are some special people here, and that is a fact. Some of you guys are very welcoming to newbies, and with some others I still feel like an outsider. That used to bother me until I realized that I am still an outsider, and that until I have been around long enough to have earned some of your trust through deeds, rather than just words, that is the way it should be.  Smiley

Thanks to all of those of you that were there from the start, either as founders, members, participants, or whatever. You all contributed to make this group what is is - a family!

Congratulations on keeping things interesting and active for a long time. I bet at the start there were a lot of folks that never thought you all would keep it going that long. Well, they were wrong!

Well, I've been here almost 3 years and the VRCC is still very welcoming and a big brotherhood.  I haven't met anyone that had a harsh word to say to me.  Maybe it is just my attitude.

If I have the time, I will help anyone I can.  I need some technical help sometimes for things that I have never done and have never had a problem getting the help.

P.S.  I don't read posts that either start out political or turn that way after a few posts.  There is nothing to be gained by arguing about politics and it just causes hard feelings.

I will be here until I cannot.

Heyyyyyy...I remember that beautiful blue bike! I was ogling it quite lustfully when you walked up and that's where we first met. You and TNT, Kat and Sue were my heroines. Smiley

I only recognize Lamont and Barbarian the Mad Serb in that shot. I think the dark-haired woman with her back to us may have been Dragbar's ex. uhhhh...there was some kind of skit involved here...can't remember the details now.

I distinctly remember Mosa doing wheelies in the parking lot on that Reflex. We all got quite a laugh out of the hot dog run while he clowned around on the back behind Dragbars, who ended up riding the Reflex for the rest of the event after the Bonneville Valk broke down.

That's you and Sue and I don't know who else in the next shot doing the raffle thang. Then I can't tell if that's Workerbee/Karen under the cap and glasses but that's Oz-before-Lasik, of course. Cheesy

Great shots. And that wasn't even all of the bikes there.  Shocked Some opted to ride in smaller groups to Marysville. Thanks for posting these pics.  Smiley

picture on the drag machine.

Dragbars, Christian Ray's ex girl-Friend, black hair is TNT, LaMont, one of the guys from out East and up the coast, Barbarian,

The skit was, one of Barbarian & his ladies, and the protectors with water guns.
They were trying to keep LaMont from winning the drag race.   They did a pretty good job of it I might add.

The all went after LaMont.       That was right after Christian blew his Bonneville bike piston.

In the picture of oZ, that is one of the SoCal ladies, her husband has a red/white with a humongous fuel tank on it.    cursed if I can think of their names right now.      I thought I saw a glimpse of Lynn from Cat Specialties in one picture, Ratdog was in one, Murdoc in the same one, BigBf in the right background.   The LAPD retired officer, long skinny tall curly haired guy in the rear.

That was one trip I do not want to remember back home.........    Got a call Saturday morning at 9:00 AM, was home the next morning at 7:00 AM.   720 miles in 10 hours.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the reason the first (and 2nd and 3rd) InZane was held where it was is because it was very close to the center of the population density of the United States...  Meaning that the 'bulk' of members (and most folks in general) live east of the Mississippi, and the 'Bulls Eye' was very close to Zanesville Ohio.  Just happened to be a town with a cool name  cooldude

I missed the first (work), and the second one that was held in Frisco (work again  Angry ), but made all the rest!  Lookin' forward to Bellaire again  cooldude

Pic taken by Harv or Robin, as we were heading in to Denver, for the first Frisco InZane.  Steve K and I up ahead...

I think you're right, BD. I seem to remember that was part of the reasoning. Statistics showed a majority of MC owners/riders live within 600 miles of Columbus, Ohio. Zanesville is about 60 or 70 miles East of there?

Sweet pic, btw. I remember that pull-off. That's where we stopped the first time when the I/S started sputtering and choking coz the plugs were fouled. The air was getting thin and we were running too rich for it. (aftermarket TBR needles set too high..we ended up dropping the needles to fix the problem and thank you, John Horton, for showing us how) Smiley

I remember sitting outside the motel with the carbs tore apart...... removing the .020 needle shims that worked soooo well at sea level..... but not so much in the mountains...LOL  Back firing..black smoke out the pipes..... running REAL rich.... but pulling the shims and a K&N air filter helped a LOT!!!!!!!  That was the 1st time I met RJ....he was watching to make sure I didn't mess up...LOL

Even though I bought my Valkyrie in 1996 I was a latecomer to the VRCC at no.4674.
I didn't make the first three Inzanes but, if memory serves, I took this picture at Homecoming in 2003 with the Valks lined up after the group ride from Zanesville.  As usual, I couldn't line my Valk up with the rest, no comment Smiley

I met RJ there for the first time.   Made a lot of new friends. Since I have gone to both Paducahs, Johnson City, and Bellaire.

Even though I sold the Valk because of the weight, I 'm still welcomed by the group.  Best bunch of riders that I ever encountered.  The best staff too.

I hope to make Bellaire again next year and I hope that I'll be able to trailer and ride my Vstrom up there.

2008...

I got a pie that year, and wondered around in the parking lot giving pieces of it away... the large chunk I ate myself was awesome cooldude

Me and Frank Smoak walked around looking at everyone's chicken strips and making judgemental jokes and smart alec comments  crazy2
I looked at Frank's chicken strips a month or so ago, they're non-existent and there's only one road with a curve in it in all of Charleston county...

My buddy Dan from Clemson came that year, won the poker run, and handed the money over to the Crumley House dude on the stage. He's
a great guy, he'd never been to inZane, he did it because he's Dan, not because he'd been there before and seen that that was what a lot of
people generally do... Dan's in charge of everything to do with networking at Clemson, I see him riding his bicycle almost every day, I guess that
was him I passed this morning (23 degrees at the time)... Pilot... rebuilder of old tractors and old  trucks and old cars... teller of funny stories...

Smiley I had the Valk in 01 but didn't make it to InZane until 03 and InZane III...we had a blast...

Devon and I rode down with a group from Michigan and we didn't know anyone from the national club...

We got to meet a bunch of folks that year...and in years to come we made a whole lot of friends and we continue to meet new folks all the time though this club... here are a few pictures from that trip.

you know there has been great times in this club ...a few not so great ...it is what it is...you can focus on whatever floats your boat...for me every time I get together with folks from this club I seem to have a great time...you guys never fail to impress me... someone always either gives me a good laugh or opens my eyes to unbelievable acts of kindness or charity...good advice even bad advice some one always responds  ...I believe this club is pretty much the same now as it was then...some folks have changed some haven't ...some new folks have joined some other folks have left that's pretty much the history of any group...so if you see Devl or I at an event or if your heading up here to Michigan don't be afraid to stop by and say hi...

That's my first Valkyrie, who was fated to meet a deer up close and personal.

Can you name these people?
You guys were close on naming...
Pic 1 (l to r): BeckyB (Don's wife); Dragbar's ex; Lamont, ?!??, The Mad Serb (TNT is not in this shot, she was wearing a leather skirt and fishnets).
Pic 2: Y'all got that one... Dragbars riding the Reflex, Mosa biting the wienie
Pic 3: TNT is in the upper left corner, f6gal & Sue selling tickets, Boz (the smiling profile in back), buying tickets: ?!?
Pic 4: Darryl Weber (Rob's wife) & oZ; and the right side of FlamingoBabe

The official bike count for the Valkyrie March was 328.  Honda said they clicked thru over 800, but I honestly don't know how we could have missed counting 500 bikes.  Event registrations totalled 476 (riders and co-riders), which more closely correlates with our bike count.

The location was chosen because of its proximity to HDL & the Honda plant, and the city's name.  Population was also a factor; the population center of the US is Northeast of the geographic center, but that is overall population, not MC's or VRCC membership.

At the 1st VOA ride-in at Montrose..... That was the 1st time I met RJ....he was watching to make sure I didn't mess up...LOL

lol..man! And isn't that embarrassing going up a hill on yer fast-as-hell Valk ...getting passed by semis and little old ladies?  2funny Cry 2funny
