OK, so I understand some of youz guys might not know what the hell we are talking about here. I have a 1996 Toro 724, for you who may not know, that's a 7 hp with a 24" cut, its a 2 stage. been running Amsoil 5 -30 since new. We had 8 to 10 inches on the ground and just got another 14 to 18 on top of that. Nice thing is that no one will mess with ya when your blowing snow.

How can we give serious consideration to any of your snow blower claims...there hasn't been a single Tim Allen the Tool Man grunt backing up the quality of these machines!

Got an '08 Ariens 824E to replace the old 1988 824 that died season before last. Good machine, went though countless belts and both wheel bearings but was still on the original friction disc. Electric start didn't work much the last year or two but the only replacements would have been scavenged parts so I got a new rope instead. Piston seized & the connecting rod snapped. Figured it was time to sell it by the pound rather than bolting up a new engine.

I have a 19 year old John Deere 8 horse, 27 inch cut. Had to weld the auger to the wheel drive it is rusted so bad. Did the neighbor's drive and he said he can hear the piston slapping. It misses and reverse is not so good BUT $1000 to replace, I hope it holds together until spring when they are cheap again.

For when I am in Connecticut (Fortunately Florida gets a pass!!! ) For up to 6-8 inches, fluffy snow the fastest is my 20HP Agco-Allis tractor with a 48" HEAVY plow with hydraulic lift and Hydro drive. Over that amount, I have a Honda 8HP (28 inch) Snowblower that works as good as the Valk (cousins??? ) that throws snow 50' and will not clog!

Ya might want to check that engine again. Last I heard it was a 427 incher. I'll see if I can find a picture of my 27hp Tuecumseh John Deere with a 48" blower. Hydro stat, so real slow or wide open, makes no difference, it is all hydrallic and will eat snow......

I use to use a shovel. Takes awhile to do 200' + of drive! Bought a mowerless simplicity 5212 hydro, 16hp, 2 years ago for $100. did some minor carb work. Added some mud tires all way round and a plow. Now its my plow bitch. Can do the drive in less then 2 hours on a good snow.

Toro 4/21. two stage . Thirty years old, never fails to start, has a 120volt starter for the really cold days.
I finally had to put some money in it, replaced the drive belt last year. Let's see the Chinese crap beat that!

Use a Toro CCR Powerlite (2 stroker) with rubber augers (replaceable). It's not self propelled but is great up to about 10-12" unless really wet. It's very light and easy to handle or toss in the van. http://www.toro.com/intl/ca_en/home/snowthrowers/gassinglestage/ccr325.htmlAlso use the old Bolens. 1969 Bolens 1256 Hydro. Locking differential for full posi, hydo lift & Eaton hydro tranny. It's a monster with chains. 36" plow. Only 12hp but back then, it was rated at idle. First pic. when I got it in 2003, 2nd after clean up & paint

THAT...is awesome. What is it, 79? I had a 85 Scotsdale that I loved. Hunk of crap but it was great. I'm looking for a mid 80's 4x4 in a Chevy. I like my 04 Sierra Z-71 but like the truck feel of the old ones. I'll let momma drive the Sierra.

OK, it's a Toro 1800 Power Curve with a long extension cord, but it gets it done. I do the pushing, it does the lifting. My previous one lasted 10 years, best $300 (except for chrome) i ever spent...

Honda 520 single stage with electric start. I paid the extra for the electric start for my wife. For me, it starts the first pull every time and works great. The little Honda will always blow our snow about 35 feet. We don't get much of the light fluffy stuff in Chicago. Mostly we get 'heart attack' snow that's heavy and fairly wet. Again, no problem with the Honda. Even the stuff at the end of the driveway the street plows leave behind is no match for this single stage Honda. The grunt of it's 4 stroke engine just simply gets the job done.
All the best,
Mark
