Well spoken Joe! Happy Birthday wishes to one of the finest people I have ever met. Wish I was there to celebrate with a cold Texas Shiner Bock.

Yes sir, a good man. We had sent notes many times via email, but met him in person for the first time in Bellaire in that very restaurant in the picture. At the time I was sitting at the last table in the next row....just over his left shoulder. One day I'd love to get his friend Carman in Ft. Worth to ride up with me to see him...maybe an addition to my Bucket List.
Another birthday, just keep them coming as my soon-to-be 93 yr. old neighbor says. Hope to see all you folks again in July.

You know John... Some VRCC members are looking forward to the "get together" at InZane11. But, I would be lying if I didn't say I am looking forward to starting the morning off with a helping of corn beef hash from this restaurant in Bellaire!! Great food and good service.

Goodness Sakes! I sure do appreciate all those compliments and well wishes. I'm sure that I don't deserve all the compliments, but I do need all the well wishes that I can get at this stage of the game. It was a great day for me. I did almost nothing worthy of note until mid afternoon when the temp here reached a balmy 75. I spent the rest of the afternoon leisurely riding the back roads in and around the Wichita Mountains which begin just west of the house. It was a relaxing ride that gave me some time to reflect on the past and all the great people that I have been fortunate to meet in my life. Strange, but a lot of them ride Valkyries, others fly airplanes, and then there are a few old hunting buddies. Your friends are priceless. Sometime during my teen years my dad said to me, "Son, no matter what you come to own in this life, you will never own anything more valuable than your reputation." He must have been correct because of the mob of people who showed up at his funeral, most of whom I had never seen or met, but they all knew him well.
I arrived back at the house just at dark to park the Valk in her assign space when my darling wife of 40+ years popped into the garage with the greeting, "Did you enjoy your ride?" Yes, I did enjoy my ride, all by myself with my thoughts of the past and my many friends. It was a great birthday!...JTL

Wisdom is a good thing Jim. Sounds like your dad fed you some great advice at a young age. It's amazing how paths of friends come and how God designs such great highways for us to cross. I must agree there are many of the valk riders that are closer than family. I got out and rode for a bit yesterday it was no "balmy" temp though.. Just in the 50's but still was good riding weather. Glad you had a good ride and reflecting is a good thing

Stude, I'm with you on that one. I only had it one time, that was enough to make me want to go back. Here's hoping I can make it again in '11.
