To all those that have complained about changing a Valk air filter. Try it on an 1800 Wing.

no thanks...I saw a video on doing just that and there were way to many electrical connections and panels to pry apart and junk to wade through.  I think Honda wanted it to be so hard that no one would do it themselves

My buddy has both. He loves riding it, smooth, fast, comfortable.
But it can be a bear on maintenance. Good thing they are "Honda reliable"

Actually it wasn't hard but there's a LOT of steps and things to remember to get it all back together right.

How many hours to change the filter and get it all buttoned up?

Britman: It took about 4+ hours but that includes a stop for lunch and 1 or 2 phone calls. This was my first time on this so reading the manual and finding all the plugs took time. Maybe 3 hours the next time.

I have both also....I change my own filter also on the Wing, next time you should be able to do it in about 2 hours if no beer is included in the change. Just don't forget to plug ANYTHING back in. One small hidden plug gives a F1 code, and it is an easy one to miss getting plugged back together. Also don't forget to plug the antenna into the radio. It's really not bad, you just have to plan the time for it and don't be in a rush

So who will do it ? Tech`s @ your local Dealership. Good luck. I bought My Valk. at at local Dealer and when I asked the price on a rear tire replacement was told $ 35.00 and then ; Oh , thats a shaft drive ???? Now it`s $100.00. Did my own self.  Roll Eyes

The dealer that raised the price for a shaft drive was ripping off what he thought were stupid customers. With a singlesided swingarm it's easier than any other bike. My local repair guys charge 1 1/2 hrs labor plus $20 for a filter. That's $75 X 1 1/2 = $112.50 labor. Dealer=Stealer, but we all know that already.

I'm with you, Paul.  Where is it, Sandy?

I didn't have mine long enough to get to the air filter.   tickedoff

I took the pic before I even got down to it. The black area in the middle is the engine control module with the cruise control unit integrated in it. Once that came out, then the Air cleaner cover was exposed. 7 screws and the cover was off. 30 seconds to change the filter and then put it all back together. Rode it today and all is well. As I said, it's not hard but there's many steps and remembering where all the plugs and screws go can be challenging. Wish I had taken more pics now.

one very good thing ~ every plug is different so you can't plug one into the wrong place

good thing the air is so clean already in New York    Shocked

One good reason to stay with a Valkyrie

On the R1150 RT I have to take off just 12 bolts and a snorkel to get access to the air cleaner
Now that I have done it changing the battery (some of those bolts was hidden pretty darn well)  the change would take me half an hour tops

Who woulda thunk a beemer would be easier to work on than a wing?

Two weeks now of no riding..... come on warm weather
