DragonRiders,

Did a little searching and couldn't seem to find an answer, so - Has anyone mounted six individual air cleaners on a Valkyrie ?  Like K & N ?  If so, what was the part number for the filter ?  Did this require new needles and jets ?  Any info would be most appreaciated.

I rembember something along that line being done on a bike.

If memory serves me correctly, they had to turn the carbs around so as to do it.

Other than that, I don't know anymore.

Someone else might remember the details.

DragonRiders,

I kind of thought that this can't be an easy or very productive mod but was curious if anyone had tried it.  Hopefully, someone will have some more details.  And while we are at it, how do you guys add that neat little weather thing at the bottom of your posts ?

Done quite often on Triumph Rocket 3's. Definitely would require a rejet & unless you flipped the carbs around {I think Trick Rick in Ft. Myers FL has done it} it would not make any visual impact. Be careful monkeying around with your air intake system as a small change makes a big difference!

Might go to the old tech archive and search there.  I have seen it done, but lots of questions about getting enough air to the rear cyls.  You turn the air runners around under the carbs and the carbs turn with them. Looks real good.  Hopefully some one that has done this will answer sometime this weekend.

DragonRiders,

I found multiple photos and an awsome video of Trick Rick's bike "Scorch".  Fantastic bike !  The six carbs/air filter sticking out from the engine looks great but probably not a good mod for a daily rider.  And more work that I am capable of.  Guess I'll just stick with the stock air box.

Thanks to all !

Some people get 6 of those little bitty air filters from auto parts places
and stick them on with 2-sided tape. Zero performance enhancement but it
looks great!! (IMHO)

Like this? Like bob said, just stick ons, or are you looking for actual performance?

You would lose the plenum effect of the airbox, so your efficiency and power would drop somewhat.  A rejet/needle setting could restore proper mix, but it would still have less performance.

Hey,   I could see it!!

Rotate the risers 180 degrees and get
six cable pull carburetors operated from
a junction like connector.

Have to look, but it might be a bitch to
get your legs around to the pedals.

Mean as hell too, with individual exhaust
turning up like an old deuce coupe.

Yes, it's been done, look for "Trick-Rick" on the Florida board.

Ive got K&N pod filters on my KZ with cv carbs.  Took some jetting and carb mods to get it close to right.  Still have a flat spot and that is with 4 carbs let alone 6.

Hey Idrandler , the big downside to having separate filters is dealing with the weather ... when I had my Old Rip Snortin Fartin Norton I had individual K&N filters and it ain't no fun getting caught in the rain... Thanks the Geezer crazy2

DragonRiders,

Thanks for all the info !  But the Old Geezer is right.  Rain would be a real problem if the air filters were exposed.  My original thought was that it would be possible to find six little air filters that would go on the carbs in their stock position and would therefore be somewhat protected by the fuel tank. Sort of like the filters mounted on the outside on one of the bikes pictured above.   Even if this were do-able, the rejet would be way beyond my capabilities.  So another wayward thought hits the trash can.  But I do appreciate your input.
