Thursday my wife had her surgery, the out come was not what we had hoped for. They removed all her female organs, also appendix and lymph nodes. She does have cancer, a form of cancer that causes a large amount of mucilage to form around it. the tumor was about 4 lbs, it was removed with all the mucilage that it made. She is going to require chemo to get rid of what is left, the doctor seems positive that it is curable. Right now they are doing genetic testing to pin down the best form of treatment. I have been living in the room with her, she needs a lot of moral support right now, she had a rough time, surgery was over 4 hours, and now the next evening, she is still in a lot of pain. They made a 15 in incision for the operation, and I can under stand the pain she is having. Looks like about 4 to 5 more days here before I can take her home, Then she will still need a lot of care.

SugarPlum and I are pulling for her.   She's got a tough row to hoe ahead, but with the love you obviously have for her, it will be a bit easier on her.  Give her our best.  GJ

Bill, thanks for letting us know.  Man that is tough.  I know a woman who gets a total radical hysterectomy can suffer for a year postoperatively, and that is without a four pound tumor and cancer.  And the chemo is a hard way to go as well.  You will have to be strong for her now and the voice of strength and optimism.  I hope you have some other family or friends that can help you out with this.  Take care of yourself while you're caring for her.

Best of luck Bill.

Still in my prayers. Please accept help when offered, you will not be any good if you get sick or tired.  Can't tell you how many I know that tried to do it all and ended up tired, sick, and unable to help.

Grumpy, it won't be easy, but you and Anna have tons of prayers and well wishes. They can, and do, do miracles, it's a very good sign if the Doctors think the cancer is  beatable. Recovery from surgery can be very demanding, you can find yourself wondering if it's worth the pain, and the answer is yes. Hoping for the best for the both of you.

Prayers for both Anna and you Grumpy.

As her primary caregiver it will be rough on you , (I know).

As she progresses toward feeling better, try to take some breaks yourself.  It helps.

I have been more in the habit of sending up wordless prayers so I might be a little awkward in this regard but here goes: Dear Lord Jehovah, we pray that you lay your hand upon Anna and Grumpy and give them the strength of your presence, give Anna your healing, and give them both calm and hope in the midst of their fear. We pray for a full recovery for Anna and that you refresh their spirits, too. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen  Smiley

Prayers for both you and Anna from Mid-Michigan.  So sorry to hear that the outcome wasn't what you all expected.  Abdominal surgery does hurt and the hormonal change can be hard to deal with.  Work with her doctors on that, they can help alot.  Chemo sucks, I hope the results from that aren't too bad, sometimes they aren't.  Hoping and praying for the best possible outcome.  Take Care!

Hey Grumpy...

I know you'll do whatever it takes, including wearing yourself out, taking care of her when y'all
get home... I hope you have some help sometimes... It sounds impersonal, but Interim (they're in SC and
FL) helped us take care of my Mother while she recuperated after surgery, a couple of the ladies
that came from there were just "people with jobs", but a couple of them were real blessings...
prayers for the both of you...
