Do you have a web site for the shock bushings or how do we order, price, etc.

It will take a month to get an order in, and shipping will follow that. It doesn't seem likely it would make a March deadline. Probably April.

And to the revelation that stock dampers cost less- that was never the goal.
An old gunsmith taught me long ago- never argue with those who sell for less- they know what their stuff is worth.
The stock dampers cost less for good reason.

Nope  Grin
but the vendor says the order will be ready March 23. They are almost ALWAYS late a week, sometimes more.
And then they have to ship to me, adding a bit more time.
But as a guesstimation, I'd say parts will be ready to ship by April 2nd.

For the benefit of those who have asked, OEM dampers seem to last about 50,000 miles.

I've had my bike for about 40,000 miles. I've changed my dampers twice. I looked at them on Saturday when I
was changing my tire, the little aluminum frobs inside of them (I didn't know enough to get the new OEM style,
or Gary's) are wiggly already...

For alph's benefit  cooldude and the information of any who might not have e-mailed me before:
I have a very limited stock of dampers right now. If you want 'em, the time has come to stretch your arm to the bottom of your pocket  Cry
Quantitys are limited

I have used Gary's stuff on my Valk before I sold it, great person to work with and his stuff is of a high quality, The VTX board like many boards starts with a small compliant about something and many jump on without all the information. Order his stuff for anything you need on your Valk over the OEM parts. Loved the Alt cover he made for me, got lots of compliments on it and used his shock bushings every time I changed them.

I have a set of Gary's Dampers and not quite sure how many miles I have on them (more than 15k miles) and are still tight and working as the day I put them in.  I just popped out my upper shock bushings to give to WDValk for his oem's were shot!!  (so were mine back in the day...).  Those upper shock pushings that Gary has been making are hands down the best you can find.  I took them out of my shocks after 40k miles on them and they have very little wear.

Gary,

My special thanks to you and your desire to provide so many of us valk owners with a quality part.  Now if we could only twist your arm to try and make some U-joints  coolsmiley   eh?  ???  worth a shot to ask  cooldude

Thanks again and for all those dang VTX boys/girls b!tching... well let them pound sand in their sand box while we ride on!!!   Grin

Thanks for the props, Stude!
I try to make a high quality product. If something gets out there that my molder F'd up, I will work with the user to make it right. I don't know what more I can do....
As far as the U-joints, I'll bet there is a way. However, IIRC, JeffK tried to replace the joint alone and was not successful. It may be one of those parts that needs a pretty expensive machine to replicate. Anyone got a junk one that has its components still whole that might contribute to the cause of figuring it out?

Gary,

I would love a set! Do you still have a set of the drive wheel dampers left? Or by your last post am I just six weeks to late?  Cry I have had your shock bushings for the past year and they are great. Please let me know as I'm about to order a set of tires and will be pulling down the rear soon and would like to add the bushings then if possible.

Kahuna, I just finished installing a set of Gary's dampeners and WOW, what a difference!  I swapped out a set that had about 13,000 miles on them and the bike rides like a new machine.  There is not near as much slop in the drive line as there was with the 13,000 mile dampeners.

THANK YOU Shockbushing Gary!

P.S.  I would like another set for my spare wheel if you have any left after Kahuna...  if not, put me in for a set on the next run.

HayHauler, Thanks for that comment on the swap you did at the lower mileage. I have only 10,000 on mine and was wondering if I might be jumping the gun a little early. I figured at worst I would know the difference in slop between a fairly good stock set and Gary's new and improved ones. I feel more confident now that I will be able to feel a positive gain with the change. Ready when you are Gary, just tell me/us how & when you want the $$$ sent to you. cooldude

Gary, Thanks for the super quick reply. It looks like it's up to us now gang to kick Gary off for another run of at least 10pcs. If I count correctly from the March 30th date to today it looks like we have five (5) wanting them already. That would be Me, HayHauler, Jess Tolbirt, Piper, and Stormraider65. Great start I think. Gary said he is willing to take us fellow VRCC members for our word (actually he said he needs a simple E-Mail from each of us) and will consider that as our commitment to him. Let's pound out those E-Mails and talk to some of our other Valk riders that may need them now or ready to stock up for next winters valk tune up.

I know Gary doesn't need anymore pats on the back but I cannot believe the difference these dampers make. I've had mine in the drawer for 6 months and finally decided to put them on after removing back tire to replace stock valve stems with steel ones. I was a little concerned as far as getting everything together as it was very tight with no extra room to work but with the help of a rubber hammer  it all went together. He did send directions on how to install but they got lost and they only go in one way anyway. Don't get discouraged if everything seems really tight. That's the way you want it anyway uglystupid2. Good luck guys and thanks again Gary for a superior product.  Blister

I'm going to start a run tomorrow. I have held the names from earlier, but anyone who has gone elsewhere, I unnerstand. This has been a long time cooking. I have 10 (sorta) now so I will start. If more are interested, just speak up, and I will make a few more sets.

if it means anything, to those that want to know, i put in a set about 4000 miles ago.  i'm not a cycle expert, but i'm happy with the dampers.  they're still good and tight, with new tires that'll change EVERYTHING!!  every cycle feels different with new tires!!  but i do notice that they're better then the old ones!!  (then again, the old ones had 60,000 miles on 'em!!)

my opinion so far......

I put in a set of Gary's dampers before heading to Inzane.  They make a big difference over the worn dampers and fit without needing to tap them in on my I/S.  After 5000 miles, find them to be much smoother on acceleration/deceleration than with the worn ones (really noticeable on the Tail of the Dragon). The best part for me is that they will last a long, long time.

To any who haven't read back in the early part of the thread: If you want dampers,
Send me an e-mail. My addy is
eckfam *at* clear *dot* net
When parts are ready, I will send out a mass e-mail with instructions for payment, etc.
I have also had inquirys about shock bushings. As always, shock bushings can always be bought here http://www.rattlebars.com/cart/bushings.html
However, Progressive bushings are different than OEM, and I make 1 size. If that size fits your shock, alrighty then! If not, sorry.
To find out if you have the size I make, measure the WIDTH (that's left to right on the bike) of your shock eye. If it is 5/8", I have 'em. If it is 1/2" I don't.
You need to specify if you want Progressive bushings. Price is the same.

I put these dampers in a couple years ago along with the shock bushings also. I love the way it tightened the feel up in the driveline and suspension. These in my book give just enough movement within the parts it is suppose to but makes them firm enough to work longer and better in my book. If I ever needed any more I would buy these AGAIN!!!

When this post came up awhile ago, I emailed Gary with regards to make an order, He told me that when he was ready to fill the orders, he would send a mass email to all who had made requests. So i'm just waiting for that to happen, unless I missed it somehow. Regardless I too would like a set when they become available Thanks Don...
