When: Saturday, June 21, 2008 7:30am-12:00 noon.

What: VRCC Breakfast and Valkyrie rear drive service

Where: My house.

Come watch me rip a Valkyrie half-in-two. I’ll be pulling the rear wheel, pumpkin, driveshaft, u-joint, etc and showing all the tips and tricks to getting long life out of the drive-train of your machine. If there’s a weakness in the Valkyrie, it’s this area and it is critical that you do this service correctly (and your dealer is probably NOT). Teardown, inspection, maintenance, and assembly, as well as a good deal of just mucking about are in order. This is a VERY popular session at Inzane. Questions are encouraged and anybody that wants to get their hands dirty should get a chance (but that’s not required).

Breakfast will be waffles, sausage, eggs, and more…we start cooking/serving at 7:30am. We should get started on the bike about 9:00am or when everybody’s stuffed.

We’ll be working in the driveway so if you want to bring a lawn or camp-chair that might be helpful, as well as a hat if we run a bit long. It is, after-all, summer in Texas.

We should have softdrinks and water/coffee on hand. Bring your own if you want adult beverages. You’re on your own for lunch, an impromptu ride might be in order, but if you really are hungry by then it’s your own durn fault.

I’d appreciate an RSVP here or email me before Friday so I know how much breakfast stuff to have on hand, but if you haven’t don’t let that stop you from showing up.

Daniel,
I got some things to do early Saturday AM.
So look for a blue and tan standard lurking in your neighborhood around 9:00am.
Thanks for doing this.

Greg, I attended this one when Daniel did it at Inzane in Colorado a couple of years ago.  It is definately informative and you will learn some things that aren't "in the book" for sure.  I won't be able to make it, but I highly recomend this one.

Thanks for the invite, Daniel.

Hmmm, 268.6 miles from my house in Houston.  Would be a lot cooler traveling in the cool of the morning.  I think it would be time well spent.  I can celebrate owning my Interstate almost one year.  Bought it on June 29th, 2007.  About 24,000 miles so far for me on it.  See if I can get my kitchen pass for the day and join you for breakfast.  I have been very curious about the transmission of power to that rear wheel anyway.  Mine seems to have a little play in it.  Maybe normal, maybe not.  Good time to discuss.

Put me down as a probable.

Okay folks, it's on, everything's a "go"...and there will be plenty of breakfast food. Mapquest will lead you right to the house, and if you're on a bike, park in front or feel free to come around to the alley. There will be room for quite a few bikes there and the garage will be open and my Valk in the drive. Spouses/SO's, BFFO's or whatever are welcome.

Breakfast will be 7:30ish to 9ish and then we'll get started on the bike.

Hope to see you there!

Just got home from the tech session and breakfast.  Daniel, thanks for hosting this.  Great info, great tips on how to do this maintenance correctly and a really nice breakfast layout.  Can't thank you enough

Like a lot of our get togethers, things started out as good clean fun (see Danny's hands), but got filthy dirty pretty fast! Loads of fun goofing with some good folks. Thanks so much Daniel and Carey for the u-joint lesson and the breakfast too! ~Jeff

I want to thank everybody for coming out to:

"scare the hell out of my neighbors" day
"rip a Valkyrie half-in-two" day
"playing with a fat lady's rear end" day
the tech session. Cheesy

I hope everybody learned something...or at least got their fill of breakfast tacos, waffles, cinnamon rolls, coffee, and orange juice.

I neglected to count the bikes or the folks...I'd guess we had 15+ people at one point or another.

I want to thank Wanderer for bringing the tent/cover thing. That was a huge help and very thoughtful.

I believe we can now answer the question of "How many eggs DOES it take to swap a u-joint?"

Some miscellanous stats:

3 dozen eggs
2 pounds sausage
1 pound shredded chedder
Bunch of flour tortillas
picante sauce
2 pounds breakfast sausage link thingies
12 waffles
12 freshly baked cinnamon rolls
36 cups of coffee
1 Gallon orange juice
8 liters misc sodas etc.

Anybody that went away hungry...well, that's your own fault. We know how riders can eat so we'd layed in supplies for twice as many.

Again, thanks to those that made it out. Those that didn't, you missed a good time, but we enjoyed hosting it and we'll do it again.

Thanks Again for hosting this Tech Session Daniel
I was great to meet you and the other TX VRCC folks and learn more about this (new to me) fantastic road machine. Am still amazed at a bike that easily cross the 100k mile mark and keeps going.
Learned a lot, met great people.....dont think it could been any better...
