I'm looking for more comfortable seat than my stock 99 tourer seat. I really don't want to pay $ 300 or more for one. I heard the 2000 stock seat is a little more comfortable than the 99 seat. Any opinions on this and will they fit my 99 tourer? Thanks

The nose is higher on the 2001-up standard seat (not sure about 2000), which keeps you in the saddle rather than sliding forward as some complain. Yes it will fit. The vinyl is slightly different texture/color (it's black, but compared closely to the pillion you can tell.

IMHO best $90 seat upgrade ever and well worth doing.

Plus you can go to a hospital supply room and try to buy a sheepskin that will cover both seats for a little bit of nothing.   It took me some fast talking to get mine however, it can be done.  I put the 2001 seat on, added the sheepskin and then on one of my IRS refunds I bought one off of Des, Ultimate set.  I still use the sheepskin on it on long trips.   Don't bother ith it on day rides.

No problem unless you're really, really picky about a very precise matching of the covers.

vw70blue....first...1997-1999-standard/tourer-seats are the same/ 2000-2003-standard/tourer-seats are the same.  one of my valks is a 1999 tourer...i have a 2000 front seat, and a 1999 rear pinion seat.  the reason i left the 1999 rear alone is because the 1999 rear seat sits klower than the 2000.  on my 2000 tourer i run the stock 2000 front seat, and i bourgt a 1999 rear for the same reason.

I have a 2000 up seat on our '99. IMHO it is similar to a Mustang seat, actually better. Best $79.95 I've spent on a Valk! Got it from HDL in 2008.
Willow is right, cover material is a different texture, seat fits right on.

the cool thing about the 2000 front seat, and the 1997-1999 back seat is that the 1997-1999 back seat sets a little lower than the newer back seats.  look at the picture.

New 2000 seat and old 1997 seat.

Oddly enough, they both use the same pan.

That was fortunate for me because the pan on the seat I'd ordered was damaged. I knew it when
I ordered it and that was why I got the seat for $65.

Old seat.

Thanks for the pictures of my new seat. Last weekend after reading this thread I ordered a new (2000) seat for my 98 Tourer. Last year I was still riding 500 mile days on a cross country trip but had plenty of time to think about my seat and how it felt Smiley
