We opened a new board here called "The Classifieds".  You can find it listed right below the tech board on the main index page of the board.  Over the last few years the amount of spam our members get when they post on the old classifieds has become overwhelming.  If you have ever listed anything here, you know what I mean.

In response to that, we will be moving the classifieds over here to the message boards and after a transition period, closing the old classifieds.  The format will be different, but it should offer several advantages.  From a spam point of view, you can hide your email address in your profile, and choose to get responses via personal messages.  Those responses will come from people logged into the message board and not from nigeria.   Of course, you can choose to list your email address and phone number if you choose, but it will be entirely up to you.  Also, you will be able to post multiple pictures of your listed items.  Pictures sell things, so use it to your advantage.

Also note that you will not be able to reply to topics in the classifeds.  We did this primarily to keep listings in chronological order, but also to curb the nightmare of moderation on our part.

Please go read the stickied topic: The Classifieds - Info, rules and guidelines

-Scott

Since the new board, I almost never think to go look at the classifieds.

My "view" or whatever it is called, the way I set up my profile when the new board started, I see all new posts
on the same screen, all mixed up, general, tech, texas... and now classifieds. I like it.

Good job as always Scott.  You might consider a raise for ole Willow.  He seems a bit touchy lately.  You would think a trip to TEXAS for some relaxin' would have helped.  It sure helped MM.  Smiley

One question Scott.  Would the "poster" be able to delete his posting like after the item was sold or found some place?

Not a problem, just curious.

Yes. Should be able edit or delete your own topic. I'll double check the settings to make sure.

One of the many reasons we'll be closing the old classifieds. Spam has been deleted.

Pictures are key if you want something to sell!  Anyone who is interested in buying your item is going to request pictures anyway, so why not just post them up with the ad?

If you don't know how, ask here on the general board and someone can help you.  And remember, you can modify your post, so you can always add them later once you figure out how.

If something isn't selling, I presume you want the seller to wait 30 days until the original ad is pulled before re-posting the ad?
