Last year I noticed some Wal Mart stores discontinued Mobil 1 15W-50.  Now, all 3 stores close to my home have dropped it from their shelves.  The probable reason is that few cars on the road these days use a motor oil with such a high viscosity, so they didn't sell much.  But it is too bad for us motorcycle riders, as it is an ideal weight for engines that share their oil with the tranny.  And at under $25 for a 5 quart jug (which Mobil makes exclusively for Wal Mart) the price is a real bargain.  Hopefully some auto parts stores will continue to stock it.

Watch for the O'Reilly stores to have it on sale quite often for $4.99/qt (Mobil 1 15W-50 Silver Cap)

Dave
I was told that it is a "seasonal" item.  I don't know what the logic, if any, is behind that, but it should be back in the fall.  At least I hope so, as that is what I use as well.  Stan

The 15-50 has no energy conserving additives in it.

They probably don't stock it because most new cars call for much lighter oil, like a 5W-20.

I bought the last 6 5qt jugs my wally world had.  When I'm done with those I'll switch to M1 10w40.
