For those of you contemplating buying a jack/lift now is the time. The Harbor Freight Jack/lift is $99.99 and use coupon code 64660194 for 20% off (79.99),  (only good thru 5-3-2011). Tax and shipping to my door for around $96. Saves me 2 hours of my time and $15 gas driving to get one. Once on the item page simply input the number above for the discount.

Thought this was more a "tech" topic since those are the ones using them....

thats the lift that i bought and altho it works ok i would not recommend it.. when letting it down there are only 2 positions for the foot lever and thats in the firs position it comes down FAST!! the second position is slow...so in order to let it down gently you have to get used to pushing the foot lever all the way down,,there is no feathering it down like one with a screw type valve....

On the other hand i would recommend this lift. BUT for your own peace of mind-go to the harbor freight web site-find that bright yellow lift and read the reviews for yourself. Had my i/s up and down a couple of times-not real high but to get a feel for what the jack wants to do. If you try to put release pedal thru the floor your big butted pride and joy will come down nice and easy. If you hit that release easy-ya it'll drop like a rock. This lift imho is gonna do what you want-get a big heavy m/c up so you can perform the chores you need to get done. Mine was on the lift for right at 6 weeks. It was against the stop-not the hydraulic pressure of the jack. When i was done working on her(finally) trying to put the release pedal thru the floor resulted in a very well controlled slow decsent. Couldn't be much easier than that. That lift paid for itself on the first maintenence go round. You won't have a ton of money invested and you'll get your work done. Can you spend more for a lift?? YES. Will it do a better job because you spent more? Who knows? I'm on a budget and that just might be something else for you to consider. Not affiliated-no monetary gain etc etc. RIDE SAFE.
