PAPABARE

:) I am headed out to work in about 10 minutes.  I have a 50 mile commute along a beautiful stretch of highway 208 and 395 between Smith Valley Nevada (near Topaz Lake) and Carson City.  I just got my 98 Valkyrie and I am excited to get on the road.  I wonder though how I will actually be able to stop and go into the salt mine once I get there.  Gas Money I guess.

Starting another week. Counting down to the end of this semester's work. I hope I can keep straight where/when I'm supposed to be different places for the next few days. Plenty of running around (on the Valk) to be had.

Riding in the rain today, but still commuting on this dirty valk. Not as much fun as yesterday's ride with my wife on the back, but I'll take the rides that I can get.

Commute to ride, ride to commute.

I rode to work today... the spring finally arrived.

The question is not what you look at...but what you see...

Congratulations, Dag!  It's good to see the bare Norwegian ground showing.  Enjoy the wind.

Dag,

what is the art work on your saddle bag??

Never noticed it before...

Dag

Bought these bags and got them painted this winter.

Can't quite make the images out, two of your favorite places to ride possibly?

I like the look.

100% for me this week. And I was very late on Tuesday, so all the mpg saving behaviors went out the window.   ;D

5 for 5 this week.  It started out on Galveston Island on Monday, ride Tuesday, my birthday, and every day since.  It has been beautiful weather in the Houston area this week.

Y'all ride safe out there,

Got a little chilly here in DC! I left work Sunday night (1 am) and was freezing at the jeans,  neck and head. Caught me by surprise. :tickedoff:

Was summond to jury duty. Rode in. Being self employed and way behind on work for the year and a couple jobs to finish got me excused. So, off to Panama City to pick up a couple faucets that should have been shipped to my home in Kinsey, AL so I could fininsh two RO installs tomorrow. All told about 210 miles round trip. Beautiful, warm, spring weather.

I was off yesterday, so I didn't ride.  But I rode today, even though it was sprinkling.  I didn't have much of a choice though.  I have my Jeep all tore apart to replace a brake line.  It is the long one from the master cylinder to the rear axle.  Actually it is mostly all back together, but I couldn't get the lines bled by myself.  I struggled and struggled with my mity-vac until about 10pm but just couldn't get a good pedal.  So I gave up.  I was fighting with the thing because I didn't have the right size nipple to fit the bleeder valve on the wheel cylinder.  And I just couldn't get a good tight seal by holding the smaller one on there.  So I'll have to get my dad to give me a hand tonight and do it the old fashioned way.  The good news is I didn't see any leaks.  So it shouldn't take much to button her up.  Good thing since it is supposed to rain pretty much all week here.  :(

Yesterday I was finally able to ride to work again!  Early last week the rear bearings went out on the bike. I ordered a set, the appropriate seals and o rings, and what not. They finally came in on Wed.  Unfortunately I picked them up on the way to work. So it was Thursday before I could hit the garage.

Thursday night I rode to work without the bags mounted on my tourer to make sure the rear was back together and functional. It shook out well and worked nicely.

So this morning's plan was to change the front tire and put on some better rubber. When I walked up to my Dad's shop I found him washing my bike. Apparently he decided while the bags were still off he should since he didn't think I would.

We pulled the front wheel easily. It is so much easier than the rear on the tourer. We carried it to the tire shop to have the rubber swapped. Then I remounted it. While it was clean and in the garage I went ahead and waxed it too. Why not. It has been quite a while.

Today I wound up leaving early and taking the long way to work. It felt good riding around on a nicely shinning motorcycle on a beautiful day.

So I'm at work. This should be my last day of work this semester unless I have to come put out fires tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Saturday I leave to spend the summer in PA. Lots of work, but studying and not a job.

So tonight I'll ride home (eventually) for my last entry in the ride to work thread until next August.

Ride safe.

My 6 mile ride took 45 minutes yesterday, of course it was about that many miles, too!  Silly bike just wouldn't turn into the work location!  ;-)

Day two, the journey continues. She was waiting for me again in the garage. All hot and ready to rumble...We did it....in the dark...

Yawn. I'm here.

Been a few weeks since I posted here, although I have been riding to work most days...more than half anyways.  I'm 2 for 2 this week.  I started a new job on May 17, and I don't get hardly any time to peruse the boards any more except for lunch...and I only take a half-hour lunch now versus an hour.  And that's fine...I probably spent too much time on the net at my old job anyways.  The new job is working out great...and I have about tripled my commute miles from around 7 to about 25 miles each way.  The only bad thing is the traffic on the parkway into and out of Pittsburgh.  But at the times I'm travelling, the traffic isn't too bad most days.  I'm working 7:00 to 3:30 so I'm going through the Fort Pitt tunnels before the worst of it.  It takes me about 45 minutes to get to/from work.  If anyone is familiar with the area, I am now working in the Clark building between PNC Park and Heinz field.
