I rode in this morning. I've determined I've wussed out a bit since I passed 50. Today was the first morning it was above 30 in a while here, so I put on the leather and rode in. A brisk 33 and is expected to make it to 44 this afternoon, but the sun is shining, so enjoy it while it lasts. There is a chance of snow tonight and it is supposed to be 18 in the morning. that will violate my 3 rules to ride to work: 1. Must be above 30 2. Blue sky showing, or stars if it is still dark. 3. Driveway/pavement is dry.
I have been known to fudge and accept 2/3, but I hate to ride to work when it is raining or the pavement is wet. Wet socks or pant legs isn't cool. Especially at the hospital where I work.

Rode to work for the first time in 2013 today. 34 degrees and the roads were wet when I left just before daylight so I took it easy and puckered a little over the bridges but no ice so all was good. Ridin' home this afternoon was sweet indeed. As always, wore a short sleeve shirt, leather jacket, two pair of gloves and uniform pants. I know I've said it before but work sucks less when I can look out and see the scooter waiting on me.

Thats just my regular schedule. Oh yeah it was 36F night before last on the way home at 04:30. My normal cut off is around 36-37 and now with the short windsheild and open face helmet,,, I am rethinking not having any heated gear or long-johns. I do have my TourMaster Mesh Jacket I like to wear so much of course both liners are in and a reasonable set of winter gauntlet gloves and regular chaps. I gotta copy my misfortune this past Sunday morning on my way home from work, I will copy and paste my story from facebook in a minute.

From My Sunday Morning ride home 2-17
Wow,,,, made it home finally. Started out bad when my relief forgot he was working today and didn't get to the office way more than 30 minutes late!!!! Then bikes has gauge was flashing Low fuel,,, with the belly tank I still have 3 gallons but decided I better fill up since it was sooooo foggy you couldn't see 30 yards so I thought better be safe incase I have to park somewhere. Then hit the freeway OH crap!!! Bad choice couldn't see more than 20 yards now... Then 2/3rds of the way home on freeway loud pop and I lose my main headlights and radio and cruise control??? WTF? Pull off at Winchester electric fuel pump is also dead I run out of fuel being feed to the carbs??? Damn bike won't start??? Get some light from my phone pull the seat start poking around with the wires turn the key and the pump is now pumping crank a few times still no start??? Let the pump run for 20-30 seconds try it again and she starts throw the seat back on pull on my easier to put on gloves stuff my sweat shirt under the passenger back rest make sure only what I need is on dint even put my glasses back on and take off now on city streets of course I then get stuck behind the PO-PO damn slow for 2 miles down Stevens creek/ San Carlos ready to run any light that's red... Finally in my driveway... Thank GOD I didn't get completely stuck away from home and have to call for help...
It's 05:55ish when I pulled into the driveway, oh and of course with the cold I had to Pee so bad I thought I was starting to task it? YUCK!!!
At times in the freeway visibility was down as low as 15-20 feet, no mater what combination of lights I had on. The HID headlights on high beam with the yellow fog lights under the engine guards was about the best combo.
The positive I did have a young woman in a Mini Cooper actually turn around and check to see if I was alright and if I needed help,,,, thank you for the offer Good Samaritan.
I think I found the electrical failure culprit. The relay that supports the circuit that runs my HID headlights, my fuel pump, my electric fuel safety shutoff valve. This relays socket had loosened up on the plug in contacts so that was the primary problem and that's why it all started back up when I wiggled all that stuff around I also found one fuse location had also managed to loosen up on the connection to the fuse itself.

First time in forever I rode to work all four nights. It felt great to ride all week and leave the car at home. Gonna try to do it again next week. My son and I went to a hockey game last and he tells me his truck is going to be down for a couple of days until he can get it fixed. i say, take my car, I'll be riding

I finally got out of my driveway!!!! Rode a whole 8 miles. Roads had some slippery spots where the snow melted and ran across the road, most were wet. Way too much sand and salt on the roads to enjoy it too much, but I had to take a short hop. AH YES.

I've rode to work a few times since I last posted in here. Maybe 400 or 500 times or so I reckon and today makes one more time.... Keep calm and carry on with the riding to work. Raymond

I rode to work this morning. First time since I droppped it in the rain two weeks ago. Wet asphalt and cold aren't always a good combination. Installed the new clutch lever and replaced the "tip sensor" that wouldn't reset, and I'm back on the road in time for the dinner ride tonight and the Proclamation Run tomorrow morning. Of course it is suppose to rain this afternoon, but they might be wrong.

Rode to work again today, rest of the week looks good too. I have to learn how to switch back and forth from riding the GW to the Valk. Almost had an un-pretty moment in the middle of the road.
Thank god August is almost over; I just hope we don’t get any hurricanes around here for the season. Had way too much rain so far this year. I am completely enjoying my one hour lunch break rides.

I will ride to work today and everyday . The only bad part is I live only a mile from work. Funny thing is it's a mile to work but for some reason it's at least 15 miles sometimes more to get home. I get lost easy.

It's still been great weather for riding here in my part of Indiana. 25 degrees on my way to work Monday, cold enough to wear two pair of gloves and a lined leather jacket but not so cold my uniform pants wouldn't cut it for the 30 minute ride. Was able to ride home bareheaded in short sleeves in the afternoon. Same thing today except it was warmer in the morning and colder in the afternoon. 55 degrees on my bike thermometer when I headed home today and it was purely an act of will not to pull over and put on my jacket.
It's camping/hunting season for me now and getting acclimated to the cold is important.

I'm still riding to work. Some mornings are in the twenties. Just wear jeans, sweatshirt, Joe Rocket mesh jacket, gloves, and my helmet. Don't own any heated gear. The Harleys are all put up for the winter. Just another Honda and myself ride to Caterpillar these days. Crisp air is good air.

A bit more traffic on the road here than in Kansas I am pretty certain Last time was right before Halloween After the clock is moved in October I stop riding to work unless I know I am leaving work by 4pm That is less than one day a month as most clients come in between 4 and 7pm as they get off the train from downtown or drive from wherever after Their Workday May get to ride in on Monday though Good on all of you who are still riding to work
