Is the lower edge of that tip supposed to sit on top of the fender, or is the fender edge suppose to "tuck" inside the lower part of the fender tip? It almost seems the fender edge needs to go inside the fender tip in order for the top of the tip to sit flush against the fender. Anyone?

 cooldude You figured it out.
If you doing the rear fender too I'll bet you need to elongate the initial holes you drill.  tickedoff
I'm sure you know, but a small block of wood fairs well to keep the drill bit out of the front tire.

P.S. Those were the first chrome goodies I installed way back in '97.

Thanks! Nope not doing the rear. Now I need to elongate the holes toward the fender tip.  uglystupid2   I think I'm going to have to do what Farther did, use a fender washer and a nylock nut. dammit.

2funny Laughing at myself 'cause I've been there. Those tips of mine are never coming off unless I plan on fender hole(s) repair & paint.  uglystupid2

I'm just too stupid to leave well enough alone.  I'm in the same boat as you. My fender is now ruined underneath the tip. Oh well. I always thought it'd be nice to put a VTX fender on it.   tickedoff
