Hi everyone...
I don't have any experience with electrical work on my Valkyrie...so I'm hoping I can get some clues.  My headlight and eliptical lights aren't working.  If the headlight bulb is burned out, would that also cause the eliptical lights to stop working?

Thanks,
Gary

Would you please explain what an eliptical light is. Was this an add-on or are they the signal lights.

I'm Guessing that you have highway lights on either side of the headlight. If so, you have a problem in the power to the headlight bucket. Check fuses first. Then do the starter button maintenance in the "Shop Talk" section of the website. Headlight power goes through the starter button.

I hope your spots aren't wired in with the headlight.  Have you checked your fuses?

yes, they're the highway lights on either side of the headlight.  I checked the fuses and they're fine.  I guess my next step will be to check the connections and the starter button.

If your fuses are good, you can also check the high-low beam switch along with the starter button. Sometimes the high-low beam switch can become corroded and cause the head lights to not light up. Rock it back and forth several times to try to re-establish contact.

I would investigate how the highway lights are connected to the headlight.  If they are wired directly to the headlight, I would install a relay to take the added load from the starter switch.  There are diagrams on Rattlebar's site (http://www.rattlebars.com/mtz/foglites.html).

If you do not have either high or low beams and your fuse is good, I would say you need to check your starter switch.  Check here for instructions:  http://www.valkyrieriders.com/shoptalk/VSGPages/starterbutton.htm
