I don't seem to be able to find it.
I have checked for vacuum  leaks. I spreyed starter fluid all around the hoses and carbs while the Valk was running hoping to find a vacuum leak. No dice. I checked the petcock. Does not seem to be a leak there. Dry both after riding and sitting.

The smell seems to be coming from the left carburetor bank. That is where it is the strongest. But I don't see anything there.

Any other ideas would be great.
2000 Interstate if that makes any difference.

Well gas vapors sink as they are heavier than air it may be coming from your gaskcap this happens and there was a post about this the other day. They do not sell the gasket seperate either LOL someone mentioned vasoline on the rubber to refresh it.

I experienced a gas smell on mine last year. As suggested by someone here, I removed the rubber seal from the tank cap and put a piece of thin carboard under it as a shim. The cap closes tighter now and the smell is gone cooldude

I will give the gasket a shot. I already coated it with Vaseline. That didn't make a differance in the smell.

Thanks for your help....

There is a very good Honda mechanic in this area of Texas that I know and use sometimes. When I told him about the gas smell, when I purchased my I/S 5 years ago, he told me in no uncertain terms,
"That's Six Carberators You're Sitting On Top of". That's when I came to this board to get an answer.

AND the answer was? I have had this bike for 40K and the smell just started . Got to be something new. I wil try the gasket thing. I know that covering the gas cap area with electric tape did not work....
Thanks for all the help

Cut a piece of inner tube to the same size as the existing gas cap gasket and add it on top.
