While looking around for saddlebag rails, I found these on e-bay (apparently not OEM rails). Funny thing is that this guy has several and each one says the same thing...

Does anyone have any experience with this guy and product?

At least he will take returns. Read all the feedback comments. I just bought a driving light  bar with spots and turn signals on an impulse bid due to time running out. It was a very bad move. No returns or refunds should have thrown up the flag to me but didn't notice. The light bar is junk, poor quality chrome and metal work. I am going to place a complaint in with e-bay about how they were presented. At any rate I am out the the money. My suggestion is if doesn't carry a brand name I would stay clear. You can the sender the seller a question. I did not due to the time running out. I will never do it again. Eduction comes at a price. It's your call and good luck. This is the first time I got burnt.  Angry

I sent him a note, asking if they're Hondaline or aftermarket copies. Below is his response.

They have good feedback.  Would be interesting to know if they use hallow or bar stock.

I took a gander at them and they look very close to OEM.  Fit not withstanding.

They have all the correct attachment points as the OEM.

I am sure they are tubing, the same as OEM.

Since Honda isn't making them anymore, these seem to be an Ok deal.

I like my bag rails lots, and they are very strong and good protection for the bags.

I have thought of that. However, have you ever seen it done on a Valk? I think that the Harley bags are a little smaller, they don't look as if they fit around the Valk I/S bags. Undecided

I have these on my Valk. There has been a lot of discussion on the general board about them. They are much improved over earlier versions. The Ebayer changes his info quite a bit though. They look and fit good!

P.S. They are packaged horribly and you will be buying your own hardware!

I have to mostly agree - one of the angles on the rear right side, is off. Enough that if you KNOW it's there, it's obvious. But, I've had a bunch of non-Valk people look at them, and asked them to critique them, even TELLING them "something's just not right", and they haven't picked it out. I got mine, I'm sure the same people before they changed names, etc, by putting a low bid of $120 on a set. They sent me a "2nd offer" accepting my $120! For $120, they are excellent! I don't think the chrome will hold up very well, but I hosed it down with wax really well, and will each time I wash the bike.

Also correct about packaging - just thrown in a box, and bolts in a baggie, loose in the box - I think judging by the bolts that DID stay, I was lucky, because they were junk. I put good stainless bolts in, and I'm happy with the way it looks...

I did have to play with some spacers, seeing as I have a Hitch Doc, and the spacing wasn't right.

Those rails do look pretty good. DO you think they will hold up in a crash like the OEM? Do they seem to be thin wall tubing or actually have some stoutness to them?

I guess for the price, one could afford to have them rechromed in a few years.

Perhaps not quite as heavy, as stock Hondaline rails, but substantial. Definitely NOT "thin wall". I personally wouldn't buy ANY rails, specifically to protect bags, but I guess these would do as well as any. And better than none...

Everything is functional or pretty or both.
The saddlebag rails, depending on the mfg is either pretty with minimal protection or pretty with a greater ability to protect.
That being said, we normally purchase the pretty (no feminine suggestions here)  Grin items for our bikes.
With the saddle bag rails, if they are strong, they will provide protection for the smaller "OOPS"  Shocked that we sometimes get ourselves into. But agree that they just ain't gonna protect those saddlebags in a larger getoff. Cry
If I'm going to buy something like this, I want whatever protection that will help the bottom line. cooldude

Once again, I'm saving for more stuff for the Valk Grin Grin Grin
