I do not understand Harley.

We reported that same firkin wobble to them on their Police Bikes way back when most of us were just pups.   I was in a pursuit across the Bay Bridge and had to cut off the chase due to a wobble.    I was taking up 2 lanes to recover.  A Black and White caught her at the other side in Oakland.

They told us they couldn't create the same problem on their test track.   CHP invited them out to watch at the banked track in Oakland.   We ran 7 bikes that day and wouldn't ya know it, no wobble.   The brass took Harley back to the Hotel and 3 of those SOB's went into a wobble shortly after when we were playing.    We played with tire pressure, torque on the rear axle and you name it, we did it.   Even put rear tires on the front.  Well a bigger one anyway, the 2 tires were the same size and brand, Good Year.

One of our better Technical people blamed it on frame flex.......   But we couldn't prove it, didn't have all the testing equipment in the early 50's like they have now.    CHP got rid of all their Harley's and went to Kawasaki 1000, then back to Harley and now BMW's.    Talked to a few old timers and they say all the CHP riders have said they will walk off the job if they take the BMW away from them.
