Well, I finally got the diff and driveshaft pulled last night.  Cleaned all the splines using que tips to clean between the splines and hard to get to places.  The splines were still well greased and looked as good as new.  What a relief.  Now I can be sure to keep them that way.  The caliper is rebuilt and ready to install, new dampers ready to go back in, new brake pads waiting.  All I have to do is find where I put the seals I think I ordered a few months ago.  If I can't find them I will have to order new seals for the diff and driveshaft.  I do have a new thrust washer to install as well.  So close!  I will look for the seals this evening and install, otherwise, I will have to buy some more.  What a ding dong I am!

Here ya go Dub!  http://www.rattlebars.com/mtz/ujoint.html  Pulled mine for the 1st time Friday night.  Wasn't near as bad as some of the horror stories I've heard.  When I put the boot back on I rolled the big end inside out and sprayed it with wd-40.  Didn't have any silicone spray.  Put the u joint in and push it in the swingarm as far as you can.  Slide the boot around the u joint.  Push the big end against the swingarm and roll it over the swingarm mounting area.  Gently tug on the boot to make sure the boot's lip is in the swingarm's groove.  I then used a broomstick through the swingarm to push the u joint on the output shaft.  Then I pulled the little end of the boot on the engine.  Took me between 5 and 10 minutes to do.

Jess and Marty,
Thanks for the link to the u joint service!  I just knew I was going to have to pull the swingarm!  The u-joint will get pulled tonight, checked, cleaned and lubed!  I need to ride bad!  I hope I can find the seals (I think I ordered) so I can start the assembly process!

Dubs-ordered o rings-dampers seals thrust washer and like that. Come time to put all that good stuff in-no where and i mean no where to be found. Found the receipt that proved i bought the parts but couldn't find the blankty blank blank parts. uglystupid2 I thought i had put them some where in the shop so i wouldn't (fergit) where i put em. 2funny Ya right. Go to honda and reorder everything but dampers(old ones looked and felt good) The week waiting on parts was part of the six weeks it spent on the lift. Cut to the chase. About a week or so after my valk is off the lift and runnin sweet B T W. Came in to the livin room-parked my fat arse in front of the computer-mama says look in the bag next to your chair. uglystupid2 uglystupid2 uglystupid2 You got it-the long lost-presumably for good-missing parts showed up in the living room. I store car parts and m/c parts in my garage-not my living room. 2funny Thats MY story and i'm stickin to it. Glad all looked good when ya got er tore down. The missing parts will show up---after you reorder. tickedoff RIDE SAFE.

old2soon,
Thanks for the words of encouragement!  I will be searching high and low for them tonight!  I haven't even found the receipt where I presumably bought them.  The good thing is, The Valk won't be down for 6 weeks (I hope).  I have to teach this weekend anyway so no riding till next week at the earliest; although I could ride it to class.

I've just "lost" a brand new large can of Bel Ray chain lube in the garage.

I've even looked in the fridge to make sure my brain fart wasn't too extreme this go round   uglystupid2
