Denise and I decided to go to Fredericksburg Tuesday and check out the sites. We ran 290 out to 21 down to Bastrop for some mexican food and then 71 back to 290 to1376 to Lukenbach to cool off and spend some money buying the kids and grand child some stuff. We stayed at the Fredericksburg Inn and Suites and it was a very nice motel with two pools and a large hot tub, the free breakfast was good. We left Wednesday morning to ride the three sisters.Traveling down 16 to Medina to 337, we ran 337 to Leakey with the last 6 miles on loose gravel it wasn't a fun time for all involved but we made it to the Hog stop in Leakey for some BBQ and cold drinks before going to Camp Wood and up 335 to 41. Well as we were getting close to 336 I noticed the alt wern't charging. I pulled the fuse for the headlights and headed toward Kerrville but, as we closed in on 336 it went to charging again so we thur caution to the wind and took 336 back to Leakey. I knew this wasn't the smartest thing to do but I ani't the sharpest tool in the shed anyway. By the grace of God we made it back to Leakey and the alt. charged the whole way. After a short stop there to cool off and fill our water bottles we continued down 83 to 1050 to make a return to Vanpool by 187 to go by the motorcycle museum that is there. Well now we know it is only open Fri,sat, and sun. We took 187 to highway 39 to 27 to 16 and back to Fresdericksburg and for a bath and some hot tub before turning in for the night. We rose Thursday morning to do some shopping and return home but after fighting with the alt. all the way to Austin and as traffic got heavier and the sun started cooking us. We gave up and rented a U-Haul boxvan and loaded the valk in the back (that wasn't any fun) tying it down and hauling a#$ back to the house. I want to tell you what a trooper Denise was with all this she's a real bike babe. She earned her wings on this trip as it was very hot and stressfull and she came thur it with flying colors.I'm a lucky man having her as my wife and partner. Pictures of this adventure coming soon.
