Thanks again ya'll! We really do appreciate all the warm thoughts and nice comments! (And even that other guy's comments too...  2funny )

Mommy finally got to hold Blake today, so I've finally got a picture of his face as well...

Also, the spousal unit/maternal unit and myself came home from the hospital today. We're about to get some sleep in our own bed for the first time in a week... Well, I am... She has to pump every 2.5-3 hours... Seriously... I love my wife, and I've always admired her, but my admiration had gone off the chart right now with her dedication to doing everything she possibly can for her kids...

Glad to hear it Serk. When do ya think the kiddos will come home?

It's almost become a running joke with the NICU staff, but they are VERY defensive about giving anything resembling a go home date. The standard response is (It's kinda funny, 'cause they almost go into robotic delivery mode) "They usually go home on or by their due date." (Which for ours would be August 14th)

However, there's another step between NICU and home. They have what they call a "Special Care Nursery", which is still a hospital, but setup more like a hotel, where we can stay with them, and they don't have dedicated nurses hovering 24x7, most of the machines (That go "PING!") are gone, etc...

We met one of the neonatologists in the hall yesterday and asked him for a rough guesstimate (With multiple disclaimers that we know it's only a guess) as to when they'd get to move to the special care nursery, and he hemmed and hawed for a bit then actually said something along the lines of "Well, they're doing very well, progressing fast, but it'll still be at least a few more..... (And my heart skipped a few beats here... I was expecting weeks, or maybe even months. I know he didn't, but I swear he paused here for an hour...)... a few more days at least..."

So, honestly that's a LOT quicker than we were expecting. The main thing with the Special Care Nursery is that that's the grow lot, so to speak. Once they're healthy and stable, but just small, they get moved there until they get big enough to come home. When THAT happens is anyone's guess, could be a week or two, could be a month or more...

Off to run some errands and go see my kids... Taking the wife home from the hospital yesterday with nothing but pictures to go with us was hard, but she's a tough gal, and handled it better than I did I think...

Oh, and I know the Valk's fast, but I still haven't figured out how to get it to take me to Eroticon 6 to pick up a helper... If anyone can figure that one out, I'd appreciate it!  2funny

Just wanted to give a quick update...

All three have been off of any breathing assistance for several days now. Everyone but Kaelynn has reached or exceeded their birth weight (It's normal for babies to lose a little weight after birth, returning back to their birth weight is a major milestone.), and Kaelynn is getting REALLY close. All but Blake have had their IVs removed, and Blake's nurse told us tonight that she's under orders that if his comes out or fails overnight NOT to restart it.

Kaelynn has been moved to a bassinet and out of the isolette, which was a bit of a shock to us at first, she's been moved into the same room now as her brother Blake, but she's just out in the open without any temperature controls, which is also a very good thing.

All three had jaundice at some point and were under phototherapy lighting, but all three have gotten their bilirubin levels low enough that the lights are no longer required. While they're under the lights, they need cloth eye covers to cover their eyes. One of the overnight nurses for her had a sense of humour, and gave her a little style. And then when we saw her, I swear she was trying to strike a pose to show it off!

Our older daughter has now gotten to hold all three of her siblings as well (And change their diapers, which is better than daddy has done yet!) Here she is holding her little sister:

Some big ugly hairy dude had even gotten to hold them a bit as well...

The NICU staff are very hesitant to give anything that sounds like a date, but I've heard a few rumblings that they might be moving 'em down into a "Grower/Feeder" Special Care Nursery early this coming week. Evidently this special care nursery is very rare. It's for babies that don't need the extreme measures and monitoring (And invasiveness) of the NICU but who aren't really ready to go home yet. It's in the hospital, but looks and feels more like a hotel suite. The parents are encouraged to move in with the kids and start easing into caring for them while the hospital staff are still there to help out.

There's no better feeling in this world than holding your babies. No drug high, nor the "work" we put in to make them compares. Beautiful babies man. May they get bigger and stronger and live long.  Smiley

It's been a while, and it's also been pretty crazy...

We were discharged from the NICU on Thursday (June 30th) and moved to the Special Care Nursery. From what we hear, this is the only hospital in the area that has this, and it's awesome. Instead of making us stay in the NICU when the kids aren't sick, just small, we're in a hotel like room for the next few weeks while the kids get a chance to grow a bit more before coming home.

The Special Care Nursery is in a different building on the hospital campus, so our nurse, the spousal unit and myself each grabbed a baby and pushed 'em outta the NICU, onto elevators, down hallways, onto other elevators, etc. into their new home. This is the closest thing to a group shot I've been able to get yet, and they're all covered up!

So this is home sweet home for the next few weeks. Definitely still a hospital, but WAY more "homey" environment, more laid back. We're rooming in with the kids, our room has multiple comfy chairs, 2 tvs, 3 refrigerators, 2 beds, etc. Very nice place...

As for the kids, they're doing well, slowly gaining weight and strength. They've started taking a few feedings by mouth instead of the gavage tubes (Feeding tubes that go in their nose, down their throats and directly into their stomach.)

On Friday (July 1st) they turned 2 weeks old, and I took the opportunity to try to get some more pics of their faces, it's amazing how much they've changed in just two weeks.

There's actually a t-shirt...

"Do Triplets run in my family? Yup, they run all OVER it!"

But yeah, my mom was a twin, and I had a cousin that had twins this spring...

(Funny aside, my sister had a single baby in December, then my cousin had twins this past spring, then us with triplets this summer... All the other women in the family are proclaiming they will NOT be the next one to get pregnant, there's a pattern developing there!)

Brief update...

Blake and Brian came home Tuesday. We haven't had much sleep since then for some funny reason. Wink

Kaelynn was supposed to come home tonight (Thursday, 7/14) at 8:15 PM but she had another brady (bradycardia) last night, so she's got at least 5 more days in the hospital now. Not a good thing, but if she's going to keep having bradys (Sudden drop in heartrate) I'd rather it happen in the hospital where she's on monitors and surrounded by health professionals instead of at home where we could sleep right through it and not know it even happened...

On a happier note, finally got the low res copies of the Hospital photographer's pictures... IMHO they came out pretty dang well! We bought the CD and the copyrights, so eventually I'll get non-watermarked higher quality copies, but for now:

Kaelynn

Brian

Blake

And finally some group shots of 'em all together:
