Some of us not abe to get to Houston on the 7th have been casually discussing a leisurely ride to Kerrville Friday 8 May.  In order to get to Kerrville at a reasonable hour, we north-siders need to beat the rush hour traffic south through downtown Dallas.  That means an early KSU to hit the Tollway to 35 to 67 that would put us on schedule to meet up with mid- and west-siders in Alvarado and breakfast at the Koffee Kup in Hico.

That's about the extent of the planning so far, other than we'll be taking our time and stopping whenever anyone wants to, but we want to get the thread started for the consideration of any and all who may be thinking about or planning to go.

Heading to Kerrville this friday myself. Hang out there for the weekend to run the hill country. It's an annual thing we do. Have riders from NM, Panhandle area, and around the houston area show. Good times...  Smiley

Here's the plan as of Tuesday

Janet & I are KSU at 0600 to meet Lori & Tom at the Starbucks west of the Tollway on Warren at 0615.  KSU at 0630 for the 125 miles to Hico.  Tollway south to I-35 to 67 through Midlothian and Alvarado and on to the Koffee Kup in Hico to meet Sidecar around 0900.  We'll be there long enough for a nice breakfast and to wait for all we know are meeting us there.

Then, if we stick to 281 south to Evant, 84 west to Goldthwaite, and 16 south to Kerrville, we're only 177 miles from the Y O Resort.   Cool

If anyone would like to meetup with us in Frisco, or anywhere along the way to Hico, that would be GREAT.   Just let us know where you want to meet and we'll pick a time.  There's a gas station on south/west-bound 67 in Alvarado that shares a parking lot with a Waffle House that will probably be our first pit stop.

Otherwise, meet us in Hico.  Just let us know you're coming so we don't miss you.

Thanks

I'll meet up with y'all at that Starbucks at 0615.  Rose will already be in Austin, so she'll catch up at the YO Resort, most likely.

well, crap.  i'm babysitting my sister's kids that morning while she's at the gym.  i won't be able to leave her house (at custer & mcdermott) until about 6:45.  if y'all want to hang around the extra 15, i'll be ready to go at that time.  if not, i'll try to make it up and catch you out on the road.  if nothing else, you can warm up a seat for me in hico.

Speaking for Lori and I, the extra fifteen minute wait is not a problem.
P.S. That Starbucks is closed, so 'coffee up' before you get there.

No problem on this end, either.  In fact, I know one tall redhead who will graciously accept the extra 15-30.

Would a different meetup location (one that still brews and/or steeps and doesn't take you as far north) be better?  La Madeleine @ Parkwood & 121?  Chevron/Mickey D's @ Parker & Tollway?  Any other idea(s)?  It's your call.

Nah.  I'll coffee up while I'm minding the babies at my sister's house.  I assure you, I'll need it to be able to imitate a responsible caregiver at that hour of the morning!

The meetup location there is fine, it's practically due west of my sister's house.

Woohoo!

It looks like our KSU from Warren & DNT will be in the 0700 - 0715 range.  With an anticipated pitstop somewhere along the 125 miles to Hico, it's probable our arrival will be more 0930 - 945-ish.  I'll call Sidecar's cel from our pitstop with an estimated eta.

Looking forward to everything!
