"Stealing ideas from one person is 'plagiarism.' To steal ideas from many others is "research."
I am definitely low on ideas... so here is some of my "research..."
Obviously, these are not my own words
...
they just shed some light into the obscurity of my own mindlessness.

==============================================================================================================================

"It is the certainty that they possess the truth, which makes people cruel... Believe those who seek the truth, doubt those who find it...
There is no doubt fiction makes a better job of the truth... One believes what our eyes want to believe!"

"It is as if Little Red Riding Hood had asked the wolf:
'Dear Grandmother, what is the truth for?' And the wolf had replied: 'The truth helps me tell you better lies...
The truth is messy. It's raw and uncomfortable.
You can't blame people for preferring lies."

'BOUT MY PREVIOUS POST:
One asks (1."Do you need yet ANOTHER explanation?!?"
Another ponders: (2. "...but surely you don't mean what you said..."

1.) Well... err... I'm not sure that I crave for another explanation,
but if in anyone's own mind and perception they have formed the opinion that I do,
then heck... go for it.
WARNING:
I sometimes experience short memory loss. Also, I sometimes experience short-memory loss...

2.) Borrowing from eloquent Arizona Senator Kyl:
"... my pronouncement was not meant to be interpreted as a factual statement..."

MORE STOLEN QUOTES... err... RESEARCH:
"We're all pieces of the same ever-changing puzzle; some connected for mere seconds, some connected for life,
some connected through knowledge, some through belief, some connected through wisdom, some through Love,
and some connected with no explanation at all.

Yet, as spiritual beings having a human experience, we're all here for the sensations this reality or illusion has to offer.
The least anyone can hope for is the right to be able to Live, Learn, Love then Leave.
After that, reap the benefits of their own chosen existence in the hereafter by virtue of simply believing in what they believe...

As for here, it took me a while but this progression helped me with my life: I like myself. I Love myself. I am myself..."
===========================================================================================

"He drew the dagger and laid it on the table between them; a length of dragon bone and Valkyrian steel,
as sharp as the difference between right and wrong, between true and false, between life and death."

With the Hebrew God warning man to not have any other Gods before them prove that there are other Gods? How many and where are they? They definitly are a quiet bunch. Can Gods be destroyed or just the people that believe in them? When the Roman's marched into northern Europe and supplanted the Celtic, and Germanic Gods, where did they go? My ancestors all came from northern Europe so does that mean my soul really belong to those Gods? Are they in hiding? There are a few Druids around but not that many to make a difference.
notice the small g......"other gods" are anything that comes before the worship of the one true GOD (NOTICE THE BIG G)  To God the other gods arent gods, but the humans worshiped them as such

=========================================================================================

I definitely find comfort on the ("most of us") interpretation that Jesus was talking in the singular.
I feel liberated from this  life-long misunderstood burden!

Foolishly I thought that ALL Jesus' words were applicable to ME ... But as it turns out, in this instance Jesus was
singularly talking to the young ruler as "the rich kid was sad because he had a lot of stuff."

I wonder why the gospel would tell us a story about Jesus that has no relevance to our collective humanity.
In today's context, it appears that Jesus was just Twittering this rich kid, and I guessed that he was talking to me too!

Now I feel stupid... and Vane. Jesus wasn't even talking to me! Cry  Embarrassed tickedoff Shocked Lips Sealed

I don't want to drag this down to the level of argument, but surely you don't mean what you said.

The complete quote is, "If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." That is, of course from the NASB English translation of the original Greek.

In another place Jesus says, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to me."

In another place He says, "Friend, do what you have come for."

And to one, "Go wash in the pool of Siloam."

And to  another, "Remove the stone."

I'm sure you get the idea.

As to relevance, I think the concept Jesus expressed is applicable to all of us on two levels.  On one it is that anything we own (or rather that owns us) of which we are unwilling to divest ourselves for His purposes will hinder our devotion and service and, according to Jesus, our gift of eternal life.  On a second level we should as a practice be giving to the poor from our riches.  You might note from the quote that He didn't instruct the rich young ruler to sell all that he owned or to give away all that he owned.  By our interpretation we have often implied those.

Be safe, J. Paxton, you're still on my list for one of my Valks should I be instructed to divest myself of them.  Actually, in better keeping with the story, shouldn't I sell my Valkyrie to you and foward the proceeds to Somalia?

Either way, there's no reason for either of us to feel unintelligent or weathered based on our understanding or lack thereof.

Willow I rather enjoyed your commentary on these verses until you went "soft" on the rich young ruler.  In Luke Jesus says sell ALL, and in the Book of Mark he says (KJV) "sell whatsoever" thou hast.  That seems kinda ALL inclusive to me

I believe this instruction was meant for him and him alone.  I also believe Jesus meant EVERYTHING, and I also believe that in faith if he had done it, the Lord would have blessed him twice as much as in the case of Job.  But thats just how I hear it.

To capitalize the word "god" is contextual to it's usage, and has nothing to do with validity.  Proper nouns, like "God" are capitalized, since it names a specific thing, much like "Allah".  Common nouns (like "other gods") are not capitalized, since they are general usage.

Bobbo....throughout the Bible little g gods are refered to as gods, but the context is gods to those that wrongly worship them not gods to God.  Jesus is God big G and its not merely an english drill.  Little g gods are not God and the true God is never spelled with a little g

It doesn't surprise me that the Bible correctly follows English noun conventions.  That you choose to believe it means something more than proper grammar is your interpretation.

All the questions I asked in my post and all I get is criticism of  my capitalization.
seriously....I thought most of those questions were rhetorical.  If not then they seem to be along the lines of stirring the pot.

I told myself I wasn't going enter this conversation, but.... in MHO I don't really care whether your an atheist or a god fearing person.  What I care about and what this country needs are more Good, law abiding and reasonable men, not the others I see everyday.  Ones that hold that right is right and wrong is wrong.  Guys that subscribe to the "cowboy way" so to speak.  Without having a personal self-serving agenda, and will use dishonesty to get it.  Just MHO!  Linedog

One of the don'ts is the  discussion of Christianity's bloody history in it spread from the Middle East to Rome and later thru Europe and the Americas.
Christianity was just used as a title. What you read about is the spread of 'religion' and the
clashes with other 'religions'. If you don't know the difference between religion and faith
you should learn. It makes a world of difference!
