And I find your concern over what other people decide to call their relationship sad and kinda pathetic.

As a Christian, I do not have a problem with this... This not and never has been about religion... Its about 2 people in a committed relationship having the same rights as OTHER people in a Commited relationship....
This means a state can and will recognize those same legal privileges... Not religious
It does not and will never mean that a Church or its members will be forced to change their views and policies on marriage....
The Constitution guarantees this in the First amendment....
Also if your quoting Leviticus.... Do you keep your bear Square? Do you have a Tattoo? Should a dwarf not be allowed to be a priest?
Shall we send beasts to devour your children if you don't follow these?
I respect your opinion... respect others...Don't have to like it....
Cast the first stone in your own home..
Now... Im going for a ride...

I have a very simple question I ask myself when I'm deciding if any activity should be banned by the government or not.
Does allowing this activity directly harm other citizens?
And quite frankly, I can't figure out a way that allowing two people to enter into the legal bonds of marriage causes any harm to anyone else, so I'm all in favor of allowing it...
The thought of that occurring might offend some, but those people are also generally the same ones that turn around later and proclaim that no one has the right to not be offended... (And they would be right!)

We have a few gay friends an know many. To each their own. It's a life style and they have more rights than an illegal immigrant. Most of the gays that we know are very successful in buisness. A couple of them are millionaires. They work for what they want. I will defend my gay friends, as they are true friends. My wife and I have no issues with going out or being seen with them. da prez

Should a dwarf not be allowed to be a priest? Well uh, now that you mention it. I kid of course. Everyone knows that little people are filled with sunshine, rainbows and candy. What I thought was curious was when a coworker and I discussed this subject he voiced his objections based on the grounds that it "cheapens the institution of marriage". The only thing that can cheapen or demean my marriage is how I or my wife behave. I actually kinda feel sorry for people who project the actions of others on their own lives and relationships. If anything the infidelity statistics and divorce rate between hetero-married couples would be what cheapens your union. Not what two men or women decide to do. His other gripe with gay men was that they're "too promiscuous". ??? Yet, he's against gay marriage. This came from a guy who I know to have had several extra-marital affairs BTW. Oh, and I'm also a "Christian" at least in the sense that I try to live my time on this earth by Christ's example.

Oh, and I'm also a "Christian" at least in the sense that I try to live my time on this earth by Christ's example. That, in and of itself, does NOT make you a Christian. Which is why I put "Christian" in quotation marks and qualified it. And you're welcome to believe what you want about homosexuality. You just can't make laws based on your religious beliefs and force them down other people throats.

I also have many friends aquantances and dislikes of people both gay and straight I too am a closet lesbian unfortunately however unlike my friend in Georgia I have insufficient desire or cojones to either dress up like a horrendously ugly female or play with inflatable dolls Havent seen the law but if it says " a civil union by and between 2 persons of the same gender shall be entitled to the same force and effect as a religious marriage" then I have no problem with it Is it splitting hairs? Maybe but thats my opinion and you can have yours without flames from me To me and I was raised orthodox, not so now, a Marriage is man and woman and is mostly performed as a religious (but not always) ceremony A civil union IMHO is no less honorable by the couple and if they can find someone to join them religiously, why not as long as no one is forced to join them against their religious beliefs Do I believe 2 people in a committed relationship should be able to inherit, use health care proxies, have all the rights and misery as their Married friends Absolutely So in the end I am much ado about nothing and wish all the best luck and happyness A word is just a word MARRIAGE What are the 3 rings of matrimony Engagement ring Wedding ring Suffering Bonnie is away this weekend so I should be safe from the iron skillet Oss out

Many folks believe that homosexuality is a choice...??? Well, do you recall the time when you chose to be heterosexual? BTW, gay/lesbian family and friends scare me... their house is always too clean! I wonder when do they find the time to do gay stuff... For the record I am firmly against same sex marriage, but it's acceptance is not the beginning of the disintegration of traditional marriage. It's just another step in a progression that began quite some time ago.
I notice that the folks complaining about "making laws and forcing them down other people's throats" are the one's in support of making new laws. Am I the only one that sees a bit of irony in that? There's no irony at all actually. You want irony? Many in the far right who claim to be freedom-loving protectors of the Constitution want to introduce a Constitutional amendment that defines marriage as being between a man and a woman because without one you could argue (quite successfully IMO) that there really is no basis for not recognizing it in the first place and that legislation granting the privilege to same sex couples are just recognizing what is already a right and shouldn't even be necessary. What is happening is not actually making new legislation, but rather recognizing rights that already exist but have been neglected. THAT is irony/hypocrisy.

In WHAT way is ANY marriage the business of the Gov't? I thought it was between 2 people and god/their church. Government is once again crossing the line ...separation of church and state unless it's an issue to campaign on. B.S. Ban on gay marriage will not keep them from doing what they do any more than Sarah Brady has a plan that will end firearms violence. Sounds like some of ya'all understand why Fred Phelps makes such a big friggin deal about it !

lol! I guess once one has solidly made up his mind he can see whatever he wants to see and ignore what he wants to ignore.
That's true for me and it's certainly true for you. Please point out where the constitution (the basis of our slice of civilization) prohibits or in any way discourages marriage between members of the same sex. You can't because it doesn't. Therefore, certain people are trying to amend the ne plus ultra of American legal documents to prevent what they find morally objectionable. That's fact, NOT opinion. *Boy I had no idea this was gonna turn into a Westboro Baptist Church rally when I joined this forum! *This is a joke. Please relax.

I don't know what they have to do with marriage man/woman, man/man, woman/woman, man/Rottweiller. Okay maybe the last part I can let go but you get the point. But this is partially why I believe that the terms "liberal" and "conservative" are obsolete. Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln would each look at their party as it stands today and be appalled. Think about what each man stood for and represented and how significant that change is. Obviously not every liberal or conservative can be pigeonholed this way, but I've run into quite a few "conservatives" who are more than willing to tell people how to live with regards to who they f**k and how to f**k them. Meanwhile many "liberals" want to tell you how to raise your kids. How often is either one really on the side of liberty? Very rarely because the side they're really on is their own. The way I see it is; if what you're doing isn't hurting anyone but yourself then it's game on and the government has no business involving themselves in it... But they will. If want anyone's god in my life or influencing my decisions I'll seek it out.

Excessive Comfort, causes us to be weak.
The Romans went the way of the Gay and well they ain't around no more.
Being a Christian, I remember that God does not look lightly on this matter.
A sin is a sin but when you make it your lifestyle, you have given yourself over to it.
He said and not me, That when man has left the natural use of the woman and burned with lust towards another man
only bad things begin to happen.
The same applies to a woman as well.
He will give them over to a reprobate mind, that they are permanently skewed in their thinking.
Can any one say AIDS, yes it does hurt others this lifestyle of choice.
If you were in Africa you may look at things differently.
Aids is rampant there.

Congrats to NY! (never thought I'd say that! ) Its none the US's bussiness who people marry. I have alot of G/L friends. Even a very close one. They are good people and should be treated as human beings and not judged purely on their sexual orientation. In all of my State to State bar hopping travels, spending 6 hours in a Lesbien bar in Columbus OH was the best night of my life. Looking back, I hope them pictures the owners took didnt wind up on the internet!

No more romans? What happened to Rome? Thought people from Rome are called Romans? ??? I thought aids came from monkeys? Just cause your gay dont make you have aids. Same as having aids does not make you gay. I have been exposed to HIV a numberous times. Hell my partner and I were 'highly' exposed 2 months ago. That dont make her or I gay. Although we do joke together saying we both got HIV. Dam medic humor. ??? Guess I should go get tested. But then I'd be gay. Cause the names fudgie dont make me gay either.

No gays in your church...FINE, I am 100% with you,But the Government is NOT your church or anyone elses. I think that is why the colonists left England in the first place! The Government is not here to work with in your morals or your bible either ! There are MANY other Holy books than yours and our government came about specifically because of that ! This is not directed at any one in particular..but RELIGION is absolutely NO defense for any law.
